Default Some Final Fantasy Tactics questions

July 16th, 2016, 11:04
I don't see myself go in some console forums so I'm trying my luck here for some questions about the game.

The game is relatively abstruse with many bizarre mechanisms so few questions:

- Is the Zodiac system can really be ignored? I followed the tutorial and quoted Zodiac can make 300% difference in damages (50% vs 150%) which is huge so I really wonder how it could be ignored as I see it mentioned in some let's play or comments.

- How identify the sex of a character? It's major for the Zodiac system and despite a deep search in many screens I couldn't find where is shown the information.

- Character created by the player is a boy? It seems I choose a female portrait to discover later that it was fixed by the story and only a boy was possible. So is the portrait define the sex or not?

Yes, the zodiac system can be ignored rather safely. The biggest problem with FFT is the story missions have pre-generated enemy levels, while random battles scale. You can easily both outlevel and outgear story missions. The zodiac system doesn't have a big enough impact to significantly increase danger in random missions either if you can build a solid team and plan your moves.

Male and female humans have different avatars for each class. Once you get familiar with classes, they're easy to tell apart. Special characters would be the only exception, but they're largely male. I know in FFT: The War of the Lions, males get =1 Physical Attack and women get +1 Magic Attack, but I'm not positive if that applies in the original FFT. I think it might though, as I do remember always turning on of the starting females into a Black Mage asap for the slightly boosted damage over a male.

Don't you feel, a bit, out of topic, idiot, kiddish? Choose one or all. Or do you really feel smart? Just curious.

EDIT: To make it clear you aren't my friend at all and your familiarity is non acceptable, get it?

Thanks that's clear, I didn't noticed the avatars point sigh. I read/saw already the comment about story vs random and scaling, so that's the real changing element. Still it's a bit bizarre that 300% difference can be ignored.

From what I read I think this rule you mention is right in FFT too, I read it more than once. I also saw but just once a mention of +25% PA for male, and some equipments only for female, and something about a state. I didn't bother yet read a guide they tend bore me but I followed the tutorial fully and it's almost a requirement to get through the UI and have a base idea of the various elements.
