Pricewatch!
September 13th, 2015, 04:41
well thanks to those shopping sites I discovered the Humble Store is having their end of summer sale. It just rejected me for too many purchases in too short a time.
FTL is $2.50. DLCQuest is 59c. Oh, and Shadowrun Returns for $2.50, Boston Lockdown for $10 and Grimrock 1 for $2.24. I think its not actually on sale at Gog.

That Humble sale is HUGE! I got Endless Legends there last week. Stick of Truth is 66% off.

Sid Meier's Beyond Earth(base game only) is c. $16 in the encore IIRC which also is about the lowest that it's been. I like the civ games as well, so I decided to grab it now rather than wait for maybe a bit better deal at say Steam's c. black friday sale or the xmas sale. Hopefully get the "expansion" then, although the last year or so of steam sales have been disappointing for me compared to prior years…
Also, yep, I've seen that it's possible to use a VPN, set to Mexico and buy EA games through the mexican site at HUGE discounts. I'd really like to know why they sell them so much lower in the third world. The game didn't cost any less to develop, and if they can sell it more cheaply there, then that's the price I expect at home o.w. I'm quite happy to buy from say nuuvem, etc.

Why do they do it? purchasing power and price discrimination. Bit like how the train companies have peak and off peak prices…

Oooh, more D&D games have been released on GOG, namely Al-Qadim: the Genie's Curse and D&D Stronghold: Kingdom Simulator.
I loved the Al-Qadim setting back in the day. It was wonderfully different from the oh-so-generic Forgotten Realms, but without the full-blown weirdness of, say, Dark Sun or Planescape, and generally far more thought-out than most RPG settings. I remember having lots of fun with this game, before getting stuck in some cave somewhere. I don't think I've even heard of the other game, though.
They've also got Starship Titanic. I never played the game, but I read the book, which Douglas Adams handed over to Terry Jones so he could focus on the game. It'll be interesting to see how they compare.

I've seen games where the euro/pound price is technically cheaper because (price - VAT) < converted USD price. I don't recall the particular game(s) offhand, but I do remember the devs mentioning that they let steam/valve set the foreign pricing for them, i.e. was not one of the big studios, but a smaller non-indie dev studio. [EDIT3] Now that I think about it, this is probably an indication that pricing isn't updated very often, as the current examples are vs. the currently very weak euro. [/EDIT3]
wingamestore has an end of summer sale 9/24-28 IIRC. Many of the games are just steam keys and they have e.g. endless legend, endless space for 66% off amongst others(seems similar to what the humble sale had).
[EDIT2]
There's a related macgamestore that apparently has some games not listed on the windows store. The steam key versions will include all available versions according to r/gamedeals which is where I found this…
isthereanydeal is also pretty good and what enhanced steam uses.
[/EDIT2]
My only concern is how legitimate wingamestore although I suspect that it can't be too bad because I did experimentally purchase a couple of steam games off of nuuvem and they haven't been removed from my account.

There is not a direct relation between legitimacy and whether or not your key is getting removed.
Just because nobody ever had problems with any of the keys or because they always got a replacement, it doesn’t make it legitimate.
Like if you buy a stolen or smuggled car. It will still work…well, most of the time. But that doesn’t make the transaction from the initial vendor to you legit.
That said, www.wingamestore.com seems legit.
keyradar.com reports its an authorized reseller. And if you check their page you can also see that they are based in the US. This isn't a proof of being legit of course. But I would be less optimistic if it was China as most of the not-authorized resellers.
