Default Elder Scrolls VI - Pete Hines Mocks Analyst

December 27th, 2016, 22:17
@Wccftech Pete Hines has mocked Michael Pachters prediction concerning the Elder Scrolls VI stating its not even being worked on at the moment.

“The next Elder Scrolls installment comes out, the next Half-Life installment does not”, Pachter predicted. “I think Bethesda is close, and think that Valve is not. However, I’d like to be half wrong on this one.”

A bold prediction, especially since Bethesda has stated that the next Elder Scrolls installment is still years away.

“The Elder Scrolls isn’t coming for years”, Pete Hines said back in June of this year. When asked about the game’s development, Bethesda’s VP even stated that the game isn’t being worked on for the moment. Back in August, Hines added that fans won’t be hearing anything about the title until it’s ready for release.

The release of The Elder Scrolls VI appears far away indeed, and on Twitter, Bethesda’s VP mocked Pachter’s prediction by joking that he should listen more to what he and Bethesda’s producer, Todd Howard, have been saying.
More information.

hmm. Isn't telling people that your aren't working on it just a way to avoid talking about the game until it is ready for release?

Well, it's a short form of his Argonian name Pete-Hides-Next-TES-Game. Easy to make a mistake.

How is this newsworthy? It's not even funny. It's not even mocking.

Bethesda working hard on removing the R&P out of RPG's.

The next Elder scrolls will be a VR only exploration and beat down sim clocking in at 120 GB in size and $210 for the Complete Special Awesome edition.

So what ARE they working on? I know Fallout VR is on the way but I assume that will be more of an experimental "get your feet wet" sort of a project.

I can't help but think that Bethesda really needs a new franchise. I absolutely love the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, but feel like they've just about plumbed the depths of what can be gotten out of these games.

Something bold and new would be cool and might breath some life back into open world RPGs. If you need to bolt extra stuff onto your core game-play (ie, settlement building), then what does that say for your core game-play. I doubt Bethesda would have the courage to put some serious effort into something new, however; there would be just too much riding on it.

Personally, I would like to see something more open-worldy and less story driven. It probably wouldn't be as popular, however, as most players don't have the imagination or patience for that type of game.

They talked a few time about wanting to make new franchises and created the Montréal studio so they could work on more than one game at the same time (so far they made Fallout Shelter and helped on Fallout 4 though).

I do believe that they are trying to have Skyrim die out before releasing the next TES game. Too many people just want Skyrim 2 right now instead of something totally unrelated in another province like all TES games do.

Yeah it's not mocking, click bait on the original article's part.

I say keep working on only TES and Fallout games. I feel that each Elder Scrolls game has gotten better as a result of refining the formula. And outsource the next Fallout game to Obsidian. (FO1, FO2, FO: New Vegas, there are no others ;-)

Since I like the Elder Scrolls and Fallout game series, I don't mind more of the same, but a new franchise would also be ok. Why not? Anyway, there are enough games out there, so waiting a few years for the next Elder Scrolls isn't that direly needed.
