Jade Empire 2 is coming!

Jade Empire was WAY too 'consolized' for my tastes. Fable came pretty close to crossing that line, but at least the PC version tried to hide its console heritage. Jade Empire made no such effort, and even though I tried to enjoy it, for me, I just got bored with the lack of challenge and typical dumbed down gameplay that plagues console ports. I have zero interest in playing Jade Empire 2.

jade empire and fable were both highly consolized games, but theres almost no comparision in the story of jade empire written for a mature audience while even a pre-teen would would find fable enjoyable. although i've replayed neither i would agree that jade empire has a decent amount of replayability (though limited by its linearity especially in locations) while fable to me offers no incentive in any category to replay it. to me fable and jade empire are average rpgs that could have been better. but while fable has better gameplay, its story is nauseating and despite using nearly the same moves the entire jade empire game i highly enjoyed the setting, characters, and dialogue…for instance the female character i played as fell in love with a man, and the in game diaflogue romance was intriguing and i could see myself more as the npc she fell in love with rather than had i played as a male character and fell in love with one the female characters who both were rather weak in my opinion. this is one of the high points of bioware games to me. the gender choice usually isn't important to me in games, but in these games there trully is a 'best fit' relationship and it often seems to me that the i can relate more to the male npc's than i can 'fall in love with' the female npcs though kotor was the opposite. so i commend bioware at least for the gameplay experience of creating two gaming experiences that if played far enough apart would almost be 2 entirely different games.

Well we will soon see if we have to lynch or send PatrickWeeks cake, hope it's cake ropes are expensive!

He told us ME was the last time Bioware had to develop console only, which Bioware did to help build a strong position in gaming market. Now ea certainly doesn't need exclusive deals as they have such a huge world wide reach it would be irresponsible from a businness stand point to have the huge PR dump twice.
So placing Patrick's life on the line *hehe*, I am guessing this will release for PC and any consoles ea chooses at the same time.

JE does have huge potiental as a long term IP but it was certainly hampered by consolish designs, so here's hoping they figure this out and then care enough to do something about it.

Very interesting information! I've always assumed that any sequels would be console only for quite some time as well, which lowered my overall interest in any upcoming JE projects. However, I'll definetly keep my eyes open to any new information regarding its release, if it's possible that the game will be available for the PC at the same time as consoles.
