Default Early bird or late riser?

Early bird, but hardly in bed before 23:00. I need about 6 hours of sleep but can do with less. Whenever I try to stay in bed longer than those 6 hours, my bones complain.

I'm an early bird nowadays. I get up for work at 5:30 anyway and frequently wake up without an alarm before then. I go to sleep early tho, by 10 for sure. I used to be able to game all night and go to work in the morning just fine but I can't even come close to doing that anymore.

Don't laugh but I love dousing after getting up early and will recommend it to anyone.

I don't douse.

As for complaining bones and quality beds: before I bought a watermatrass my lower back ached every morning. That's gone now, another plus: my bed is always comfortably warm.

I'm an early bird too. I get up around 6:30 everyday. I'm in bed pretty early on weeknights and may make it to 1 or 2 on the weekends rarely, but typically around midnight.0

What is this strange value system? It isn't about how much sleep you need, it's about how much sleep you can get!! I have yet to see a game that's as good as a dream where everything makes *just* enough sense to be entertaining.

Back in the teenage/early 20's I liked to stay up until about 3am and sleep until 11am then have lunch. That's part of what earned me the whole 'sloth' nickname since nobody saw the up-until-3 part, just the asleep-until-11 part.

These days, with Ticktockman saying when I've got to get to work, I have to shove that back 4 hours. Which actually is right about now…

I divide my sleeping time in two, so usually go to bed at about 2:30 AM and wake up around 7:30AM and then a nap from 2PM to 4PM.

I looked it up in a dictionary and it said ironing. After reading your question I found other dictionaries saying something about drenching with water, extinguishing. Now I am not sure if I am not dousing… So yeah, luj1?

I don't really have a schedule, but generally I have to have at least 8 hours of sleep to function in a relatively normal capacity. Anything less is not good for me.

In the past I've slept 10-12 hours for stretches (like Albert Einstein! ), lately it's about 8 hours on the dot.

If you want to play games then it is much safer to get up early to play before work than to get into the "I'll be alright on 6… 5.. 4 hours sleep" trap.

Fun fact: Nikola Tesla needed 2h of sleep a day. Da Vinci as well, if I remember correctly.Also some other scientist and artists.

My sleep patterns are…flexible.
When I work,then I go to bed around midnight,and get up around 6:30h.
When I am free of work(about 3 months),I go to sleep when feel like it.
And then,sometimes I play a game till 2-3 am,or read,or watch something I am interested in,listening to audiobook/s,producing some of my music and what not.

I have no problem sleeping lets say 5-6 hours,or sleeping 8-9 hours.

And sleep is very healthy sleep is very good.

During sleep the cells of the body regenerate more.
And, if interested Alan Watts did a great talk on sleeping.

It's pouring a bucket of water on oneself, generally cold. I don't think it is exclusive to Europeans.

Not at all. Basically, many systems of your body seem to work better that way. My problem were stomach pains and heartburn every morning, constantly. So this practice helped me a ton with gastric acid (eliminated it completely). But later I've found out it is beneficial for your circulation and heart muscles too. If I recall correctly, I even think that women during pregnancy are advised to sleep on their left. Anyway I'm sure you can find much more information online.

I would say I am an early riser - get up at 3:45 every morning to get dogs/cats fed, coffee made etc before my morning run (~12.5 miles/day). I get into bed ~10PM, sleep around 11PM after reading, etc for a bit.

I am very fit, but agree that I don't think that is the key to amount of sleep required. For me, I used to need 8 hours, but after our 2nd son was born my wife was 2 weeks in hospital and took many months to get back to 'normal' … and I just did whatever was required. So I had to work full time and take care of her and kids. And sleep became secondary - nearly 20 years later I have still never needed more than 5 hours of sleep.

I need at least 6 hours of sleep on average to get through the week, but function better on 7, which I only achieve in the weekends.
I have difficulty in going to bed early enough as I prefer staying up late, but I need to get up too early during the week to make make going to bed late, a feasible option. In the weekends I go to bed between 3 and 4 and sleep until 11 or something.

I am an early bird on weekdays (work… sigh) and late riser on weekend.

When I get home from work and have dinner, it's usually 8pm. I try to cram in 1-2 hours of gaming. I take about an hour for shower + to get ready for bed. Barely manage 7 hours of sleep.

On Friday, I NEED that gaming time to get rid of stress, end up sleeping at 2am, getting up at 10-11am the next morning. This is a baaaddd cycle cause I can't sleep at 11pm on Sunday night and get hardly any sleep for Monday!
