Zelda game, which platform is best?
May 2nd, 2017, 16:38
I don't know anything at all about consoles, so if I were to buy this Zelda game, should I get a switch or take a wee wee (Wii2)? I love open-world games, so I will only play this one game, but I want it to look the best it can.
My understanding is that emulators aren't up to snuff yet. Do any of these connect to a monitor instead of a TV? I hope to unplug one of my monitors and connect it to this device. I don't own a TV set.

The Switch can connect to a monitor but you need one with sound with an hdmi slot. IF you manage to get your hands on the switch you should be able to sell it at a fair price if you dont want to keep it because it is a hot item at the moment because of the new Mario Kart game that has cause the console to sell within hours of shipments.
Side note: It shouldnt happen to your switch because it is a newer one, but if it bends because you let the dock over heat or something, send it back to Nintendo first, they will replace your switch and you should be able to get a higher price for that.

Another Note: You should watch a review or read one from a site that you respect and agree with most of the time. The thing is that the open world is set up is that you are given this small tutorial for about a few hours and then you are literally left to you own devices and the story is given to you provided you look for it by finding locations and discoverign memories.
Most people who like open world seem to love it, however you many not.

Imo, it's stupid to spend $350+tax to play 1 game. Just wait until you can play it via emulation. It's not that far away.
I also have nieces and nephews, so it'll go to someone. Why not spend about a day's pay to play a game that'll probably keep me entertained for a month?

Just go and play Skyrim again. You'll love it.

They pay you more when they think you're on death's door!

I would describe it more like a really neat toy than a truly immersive gaming experience - but then again, I'm not really into the whole Zelda thing.
That said, I found it interesting enough to keep playing a while. I'm waiting until the emulation is perfect - but several people have already completed it using CEMU.
It's very playable, but it crashes every now and again, and I hate crashes. I expect it will be a few months until they sort them out.
I got close to buying a Switch for this game, too - but now I'm really glad I didn't. It's not worth an entire console unless you're really into this sort of game.
The smart way would be to try one of the other Zelda games. Either Ocarina of Time or one of the newer ones. That should give you some idea of what to expect.

I loved the original Zelda but haven't owned a console since the original NES and Playstation. If the emulator is that close to being fine for Zelda though, I may give that a shot first. That way, I can test to see if the game is a fit for me.

I was talking mostly about the ambience and atmosphere - as well as the overall art style.
