It sold badly but not that badly. The were expecting it to sell 6 to 9 million, however it looks like it will sell around 4 million selling about 3.5 million so far.

BioWare haven't officially announced they are working on a new DA games. They aren't hiding that they started to staff up production for something DA related, not quite the same thing…

6 to 9 millions is over the life-span of the game (~10 years), not the first two months…

Just so to be clear to those who didn't play DA3, when I write DA:Bears I'm talking about impossible to stop respawning trashmobs design.
If someone who didn't play the game was expecting "hairy gay men" based on my posts, please don't. Hair in DA3 is either nonexisting or so horrible it doesn't even look as hair but shines like plastic crap from Barbie dolls.

The game sales market has changed a lot over the years. It used to be that an RPG continues to sell over 5 years but that isnt the case any more. So many games are getting released one after the other that, if you game isnt deemed "good", it gets quickly forgotten.

Because the game is deemed "bad", the sales have dropped almost to a screeching halt in 2 months with GTAV outselling it, but not as bad as Horizon:Zero Dawn's sales drop and that was considered a "good" game. The higher than meager sales can be attributed to a price drop.

In DAI they went ape shite and added zillions of these to make their so called open world feel open and big. I think these are all pointless in a single player game.
See, I find that interesting, as MMO(RPG)'s got that element from many, many of the cRPG's it emulated. A staple of (I'd argue most) cRPG's is a quest journal, and the difference between "kill all the rats in the bar's basement" vs. "kill 10 rats in this zone" is the number comes from an area that respawns either for other players (yes, MMO), OR for worlds that want to seem to be continuously alive and allow for exploration and constantly re-traversing the same areas (open world.)

What I think you are focusing on as MMO, and I'm focusing on as open world, negatively at least, is the FILLER content - endless mini or side quests that are, more or less, time killers. The "kill the rats" quest used to be early in a game to teach you combat and systems… now it's "kill 10 rats" to give you an achievement (i.e. waste time but give you a gold star) or, IMO just as bad, collect 10 rat pelts to craft one small piece of a larger craft item that you'll spend exponentially more time gathering stuff and learning skills to create than you will EVER spend time using it.
