But there is something I care even less about in games:
Destructible props.

Unlike some others here, instead of useless wall bulletholes and similar irrelevant whatnot, I'm more interested in useables that can construct something like gloo gun in Prey and bases components in Fallout 4.

What I'm saying here is things blown up in CP2077, okay, whatever.
But if we won't see building estate but just weapon/equipment crafting, I just don't care.

That aside, the video mentions something CDpr dared to add in The Witcher 3 - hairworks. To some, immersive world means being able to destroy a box, chop a cart or burn down some house. To me, immersive means no sex doll plastic hair.
I am not sure if this is just bullet holes or if you could blow up walls in the game. If you can blow up walls with a C4 bomb then I am all for it.

A few reasons:

- It's Cyberpunk…a setting strong in ambiance, and a goldmine for rich storytelling, relatable to our future.
Also recognized for very strong visual/audio appeal, that blends in with the setting
Picture a game set in this: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/JBbzR

- It's CDPR…over the course of three games, they from rookies to one of most talented and recognizable studios, improving by large margin with each title. Now they have far more time, resources and experience to fully realize this.

- It's AAA+PnP ( inspired) mechanics…2020 comes with deep, diverse systems: we're talking broad range of skills, massive arsenal of weapon types, gadgets, cyberware, etc

- It's roleplaying…this setting is less about killing for exp, and more about centered asking player "who your character is" at any given moment, by putting him into impossible situations.

- M.Pondsmith…creator of 2020 and a legend in Cyberpunk community and he is working closely with them on this.

TLDR: you have a very perspective, talented/ambitious developer working on one of most ambitious games to date set in one of most complex, rich settings.

Either way, new series like this are rare today.

Excited is one thing, assuming it's going to be great is another.

It's pretty obvious that the people who automatically assume it's going to be great are fans of Witcher and CDPR. If they weren't then what are they basing the assumption on?

Personally, I'm excited about a potential quality Cyberpunk game - but I'm not going to assume anything until I know more.

Fair enough. I'd say CDP has done enough to warrant a lot of people feeling that way. I don't feel that way personally, but I'm definitely excited about the possibilities.

I'm still currently playing around with Deus Ex: MD, and one of the things I keep thinking about is how extraordinary a game with a similar setting could be if it had a much larger game world.

Definitely. Even though I'm not a big fan of Witcher 3 - I loved Witcher 2 and admire all Witcher games in many ways.

There's little doubt they're very talented developers with a lot of passion for their work.

Well, I think one reason I'm so happy with the Deus Ex franchise is because of the content fidelity - and the rich nature of the exploration.

Personally, I don't believe it's possible to recreate that kind of experience in a very large world - pretty much regardless of the size of the team. Well, it's possible - but it would take way too long to create.

I think Witcher 3 is a good demonstration of what happens when you spread content too thin in terms of density and fidelity. Note that I'm not talking about story - because I'm amazed of how much quality story they managed to pull off - but that's really not all that demanding in terms of content production. Essentially, once you have the engine up and running, it's mostly a matter of writing and voice acting.

Fallout 4 is the closest I've seen to a "huge" game that also provided proportionate amounts of rich content - but there's no doubt the individual locations can't really measure up to the 100% artist-driven stuff in Deus Ex.

I really hope CDPR will scale down the scope of the world - and focus on smaller, more intimate locations.

That said, we absolutely agree that a Cyberpunk game with Deus Ex fidelity and mechanics - coupled with CDPR writing would be absolutely godlike.
