Jumping into Jade Empire, anything I should know?
August 22nd, 2017, 13:36
Believe it or not, never played this one, don't really know why, guess it's the whole style/aesthetic. Then bam, somehow got an urge for eastern rpg, minus the weeboo drama.
Anyways, how to go about this one? Only scurried around char screen, don't know what I'm looking at here. Any mods to pick up for first time. And best romances, naturally.

Haha, well I only sunk in like hour or two before I got bored with it so I can't tell you anymore than that
If you feel like eastern rpg, I heard tales of Wuxia and Seal of Evil is pretty decent. I haven't played any of them though so I'm not guaranteeing anything
Not into eastern setting for some reason other than romance of three kingdom series.

I was just teasing
I think I managed ~10 hours or so of it myself, once.
Can't say I remember much of it.

Well you can finish the game in ~10 hours. It's BioWare shortest game. I wouldn't install mods (not that there is a lot of them anyway and most just add OP combat style).
Things to know:
- Focus (yellow bar) is for weapons.
- Chi (blue bar) is for magic (including self-healing).
- Magic against spirit/demons, weapons against construct
- There is a power-up system that requires you to switch between combat style
- You can only have one companion with you, some have combat (help your fighting) and support mode (example: Dawnstar in support mode will replenish your Chi). Some have only one mode or none (one of the companion is a store, lol).
- Focus on either "good" or "bad" to unlock a special fighting style.
- In term of combat style, try not to go all over the place too much early on.
- Do all of the Arena fights once you get to the city…it unlock a nice weapon combat style that gets super useful later.
I hope you like Galaga too.

I found a great deal to enjoy in that game; particularly the environments, the various 'steampunk' contraptions scattered throughout the game; the characters, wacky lore of the gods, and even the gameplay.
Some pc gamers were apparently put off by the game's console heritage (The game was originally developed for console), but BW spent a great deal of time reworking and adding to the original before releasing the "Special Edition" PC version.

I played it on console and enjoyed it. Not as much as KotoR but it was good enough for me. Don't remember anything about it though, too long ago for my aging brain.

Enjoyed the game, mainly due to the setting. Loved the setting. Wish developers would take more chances on settings that aren't common in RPGs.
Oh, and if you want to breeze through the game:

Rifles in Jade Empire? Really?
I completely missed that option. Well, or maybe my memory is even worse than I thought.

I'm liking the game quite a bit…BW did an excellent job of making you feel like inside B chinese/cheesy movie, can't help but chuckle at overdramatic delivery and blunt exposition, all the blubbering about mystical spirits, etc.
It looks actually pretty good considering it's age( l-o-t better than KotoR(s)), nice color palette, bloom, really helps a lot.
Combat is sort of like Witcher I…simple, easy to exploit, but fun enough if you try and play around with it.
Still in the prologue, I think, but already feels like game is perpetually giving you a blowjob( Oh Charname, you're special like no other! Our master sees a bright destiny ahead of you! Your technique is truly flawless!)…seriously, you need to rub some off nostalgia of the glasses, if you think BW had better writing in the past ( BG II, being a weird exception).
Now off I go to rescue a damsel in distress with a mysterious past. I'm sure to score some romance points.

Damn you bobo, now I want to try out JE again but I probably won't because I already know about the big plot twist… I didn't think it was that good, probably on the par with KotOR.
