How do old games come back from the dead? We talk to the people at GOG.com about the work they do to hunt down & release classic games, and their mission to encourage more DRM free releases.

It's interesting to see that what they actually do is very far from "they're just downloading games from abandonware sites and repackaging it without permission from rights holders" narrative that was popular when GOG first started selling games. They are actually working hard to this day to bring games to their site that are nothing more than nostalgia trip to most people. That shows dedication. They are by far my favorite game vendor.

Interesting video. Those guys are certainly very likable.
That said, I don't think they're going to convince the big boys to go DRM-free any time soon.
Also was interesting to hear they had help with Wing Commander from Ben Lesnick. He's essentially the world's biggest Wing Commander and Chris Roberts fan.
He's made a couple of rather extensive Wing Commander playthroughs on YouTube as "special Christmas events" at CIG.
I'm a big fan of Wing Commander myself, but I certainly learned a lot about them from Ben.
They were quite ahead of their time back in the day. But that's a CR staple, so.

I don't claim to know how they do it, but I bless them for it and hope they keep up the great work. I literally feel compelled to buy these games immediately, and I've not been disappointed as of yet. I get the impression it must take a great deal of work to get these functional on current systems, and I for one think that kind of outreach should be rewarded.
