Well the P&P setting is boring too, so it's quite accurate.

How about this semi-troll, theoretical question:
Real sex vs internet porn?

And the full-wisdom, theoretical answer is:
Nooothin' compares to uuuuuuuuu.

And now for something completely different.

By the way, if you want an example of a P&P adaption done right, it's Temple of Elemental Evil. Owlcats could of learned a thing or two from Troika on how its done.
For you there is a choice, for the rest of us there is no choice, we don't like other people!

If the PnP version is superior, why are you not playing it? Why are you wasting your time posting about an inferior product?

I hated POE1 and I don't go anywhere near any news items about POE1 or POE2 etc. So why is it important to you that we are all playing an inferior product when we all claim that we are having excellent fun? Is that bothering you?

The purpose of this post was to share a suggestion on how to make it a good game.

I think the best thing Owlcats could do is what Neverwinter Nights did. Add in modding tools and cooperative play so people can make their own adventures and play them with friends. This would actually make it worth playing for Pathfinder fans.
Unfortunately the truth bombs leading up to it were too much for people to handle.

Someone can't handle people enjoying Kingmaker more than his beloved PoE2

How sweet. Cherry picking your own posts? That's cool. While I hate people, I do like cherries. Tasty, tasty cherries.

Other people suck. Yay personal computers. P.S. I'm not really into this game but wouldn't even try the tabletop version.

You know how hard it is to get people together to play D&D after a certain age? I started playing again 5 years ago and we have 7 people in the campaign. In those 5 years, I would guess, that we can get all 7 people to play at the same time is maybe 25% of the time.

You know how many times I've had to cancel playing a video game because peoples schedule got in the way? ZERO

Yea, these people have a point, silver coin. I don't want to game in person with D&D nerds. I have seen them at game stores, and they are often not the most upstanding examples of fine citizens, if you know what I mean. Some of them look and smell like they haven't showered in a week, or have other "eccentricities" is the kindest way to put it. I freely admit to being a RPG nerd, but not like those guys and gals at the tables at game stores roleplaying and so on. I don't find that entertaining. I did when I was a young teenager, but not now. Let us enjoy our computer games solo and in peace! : big grin:

Well, at the risk of trespassing into the blastzone of Silver Coin's logical truth bombs, I also think one of the rather significant reasons to play the computer version might be that one doesn't necessarily have the opportunity, or the inclination, to set up a PnP session. Not since I was a kid have I had a group of friends who would want to play PnP RPGs, and I'm not really interested in that, either.

It's also a reason that I'm not much interested in multiplayer RPGs. I do like to play some types of multiplayer games with friends, but that involves a great deal of… let's say high spirits and jocularity. For me, a good cRPG transports me to a place where I was a kid curled up with a copy of the LOTR, and that's personal time with my inner manchild. A gathering with the likes of my friends is a very different vibe!

I like people and love PnP RPGs and play regularly. Neither me nor any of my friends would have the tiniest interest in interrupting my existing campaign to start a brand new one using a system based on an old version of the D&D rules.

More importantly though, playing a CRPG is absolutely nothing like playing a PNP RPG. The reasons for this are so many that I wouldn't even know where to begin describing them, and I should think they would be obvious to most.

So you're on a forum that caters to CRPG enthusiasts and you can't understand why we'd rather play a CRPG version of a game rather than some other medium?

Really?

I just checked gog; there is no table top version for my computer. End of statement.

I presume that's because most of you can't logically refute my argument that the tabletop version is superior, and this is just a subpar imitation not worth playing.

Christ such a troll post. It is so absurd I don't even know where to start. Like maybe people can't find others to play the PNP version? Maybe people enjoy playing a computer game over PNP? Maybe folks see different pros/cons to PNP with others and a SRPG compute game? Maybe people like both? Maybe people don't like the PNP version and like the game version? Maybe people just like playing video games and don't care about the PNP aspect? Superior is subjective in so many ways as well.

Too separate entities and ways of playing. That you can't even comprehend this is the real issue here.

How about all games have a single huge lootbox you pay for up front that contains all the options, items, skins, unlocks etc? I'd pay for that!!

Yeah this.

It took my group 4 and a half years to finish the Rise of the Runelords adventure path this past July. We had 5 players.

The people I know who play PnP are scary enough that I don’t even reveal to them that I play RPG PC games for fear they will nerd out and invite me

There's a lot of whining going on in these forums, but it's not from us (unless us enjoying an RPG is whining? Then hell yes i'm whining!). Have you seen your post history? Over 700 posts of mostly "POE2 > KINGMAKER and you're all dumb for not liking the same stuff as me". Having a critical opinion is super duper fine, but this is an RPG fan site, not an RPG un-fan site. Spending countless hours online trying to convince people that they don't really like, what they actually DO like, means you most likely have some problems, and need help. I recommend spending that time more productively, like playing RPGs or something.

For me, it's mainly down to interests. I'm a computer, tech and gaming geek, and I have been for about 25 years. I was never into roleplaying, acting, writing or PnP.
