Wizardry had Gas Dragons and Dragon flies. First dragons I ever fought in a crpg. 4 Gas Dragons surprised my party and it was a party wipe. There were no saves back then unless you made it to the inn.

Reals of Arkania - Startrail / Das Schwarze Auge - Sternenschweif

I think there was also one in the third in some kind of canal, which you reach with some kind of raft.
The first one might have had a dragon event (Lindwurm), but not an actual dragon.
And there is Eye of the Beholder 2

Fruthermore you got:
Avernum 1 - Escape from the Pit
Avernum 2 - Crystal Souls
Avernum 3 - Ruined World

It might be easier to list fantasy games that do not have dragons in them, if you want to write less.

A better more interesting thread would certainly be the greatest encounters with dragons in RPGs. Listing them all verbatim is just stupid tedious monkey work.
Personally, I think BG2 has some of the most memorable - not too many modern games afterwards have come close for me.
I especially loved the optional Black dragon fight in Curse of the Azure Bonds. That was located in Hap in Dracandros' tower. I remember using the dust of disappearance in that fight just to get a head start in it; really intense encounter, as any one of the dragons could breathe acid and kill weaker party members instantly. I reckon I first fought Wyverns in that game as well whilst exploring the outdoor locations.

My thoughts as well. Initially I thought it was a typo & it was supposed to be a more meaningful and interesting thread like:
RPGs with Dragoons
or
RPGs with Flagons
or
RPGs with Gorgons
But alas, the OP quashed all hope of this being a real thread of interest. I'm enjoying the mocking though, more, more I say!

That fight in Curse of the Azure Bonds will always be scorched into my memory. You just don't see battles like that in games nowadays, optional or otherwise.
