DS: Closest thing to Pool of Radiance?
April 18th, 2008, 05:26
I have a Nintendo DS. I'm not getting a PSP any time soon.
What is the closest thing people have seen to something like the old SSI Gold Box games? I'm looking for:
- Small group tactics (as in, a team of five or six)
- Moving on a grid in combat (not virtual as in Bard's Tale)
- Fantasy setting (not tanks or cyberpunk)
- Turn based, not real-time
I can honestly deal with a lame story if the combat is fun. I'd prefer that it not look like a bunch of children and lovable animal pets, but beggars can't be choosers.
Help?

I'd keep an eye on this "Sonic" RPG. I hear whoever is doing it has a unique "role reversal" system where the player is the villain from the previous series and there are sci-fi elements. Some say it will be the closest game like D&D Expert that's yet been made but we keep hearing that about every game.
