Real World's Servers Stolen
May 7th, 2008, 13:24
Hello, everyone.
Now, why would someone steal real servers ? Hacking and phishing isn't good enough anymore ?
But in fact this has seemingly happened. The severs of WOMAD, Pre Records, Real World Records etc. seemingly had been stolen from their ISP. Real, physical stuff.
You can read the official news here: http://realworldrecords.com
I'm quite shocked that someone really did it.

In fact, this happens more than you'd think. I even remember reading about a string of armed robberies on a data center. They had security in place and everything. I'm not sure if they were after what's on the servers or the servers themselves. Some of that equipment is worth big bucks.

A few years ago, my hubby sold a company a batch of new machines. About a week after the new servers and workstations had been installed, some burglars hit and sacked the company. They stole EVERTHING, even the coffee machine. But the company guys needed the comps, so they bought pretty much the same batch from hubby two days after the raid (insurance paid for them, anyway). Hubby was just as astonished as he was delighted…
…and no, I wasn't involved in the burglary
