Sekiro? Bah.
If you must play an Asian-GrindingIsWorthItInItself game - play Nioh 2. At least that game understands that you must provide a reward when you expect people to sacrifice.

The good thing about sekiro is that you can't really grind for flat character power. At least not until very late in the game. Until then you only unlock new skills, and sometimes some passives. I think out of all the passives, there's only one that really helps a lot. One that gives you some health back after a deathblow. And that doesn't really help you in boss fights, since deathblows are very limited in those.
Until you reach the very endgame, the only way to increase health and posture is to defeat mini-bosses. So besides there being a limited amount of them, you have to actually get good to increase your health/posture pool. Attack power is only increased by defeating major-bosses. Until the very end when you complete an item with which you can convert 5 skill points to 1 attack power. And by that point it takes forvever to get 1 skill point. I only had 2 bosses left when I unlocked that item. But I was indeed overpowered for the very last boss. I was so worried that I'd not be able to finish him, that I really went overboard in grinding for that fight. And in the end, it still challenged me quite a bit.
But the idea is even with that limited amount of grinding you can do for character power, you can only increase damage. health and posture are still locked at a flat point when you have no more mini-bosses to defeat.
