Basilisk Games sent over a note saying their first monster profile from Eschalon II is up, with another to come each week of October. Head over for the Catacomb Rat.
More information.

Stop using rats as foes! Aaaaargh damn you RPG devs to HELL!

Dammit repeat after me: "A rat is NOT a monster. It is NOT a legitimate battle on the path of a goddamn Hero."

Taking a rodent and increasing the size is the most horrid and annoying copout. Think of a proper monster in stead…

Remind me of the big Wolf-Rats in Drakensang.
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. (E.F.Schumacher, Economist, Source)

Gasp! Suck!? Tsk. Cats are inscrutable …or something.

Rats seem to have become the problematic staple of the 1st few levels. Every game sems to have huge kick-ass rats…and there's nothing as embarassing as fleeing from rat!
