My second encounter with the Ranger/Druid gang has just taken place way north of Geldern in a god-forsaken wilderness. Results: same as the first meeting. The Druid, whose opening line (quoted in full in the header) was all I heard, appears as a floating head. No clothing, no body. When I start a conversation, the game crashes with 'Where's the Guru?'

I am having trouble with skeletons going invisible, which I haven't solved. This glitch certainly makes for some interesting fights (Gotha?!!), and I haven't tried to start up a conversation with any of them, thus no crashes. But this is the second mostly invisible Druid I've encountered and crashed on. Any ideas? Have just updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest with no change. Are the Druid interactions vital to the game?

not that i'm a tech expert but what nvidia card are you using?

the rangers aren't vital to the game unless you want to get all the druid stones, but i believe you can just kill them for that but haven't done so myself. there are 3 druids in myrtana and there are at least 1 quest from each of the druids. druids/rangers worship adanos like the nomads/water mages in varant. they are by far the smallest faction though, with the least amount of quests. each quest gives you at least 15 reputation just to give you an idea of how small they are.

Hard to diagnose this problem. Could be a faulty disc which caused some data to be corrupted when you installed it or could be a driver issue, although I think this is unlikely to be the case as the only reason I think this would cause the game to crash is if it crashing on the initial call to the directx api (which is a very severe issue).

Try installing on a friends computer and see if you get the same issue? At least then you know if it is some incompatibility with your rig.

What version are you using?
Have you tried to reinstalling after first copying/moving your savefiles?

Which video drivers are you using?

Tried an uninstall with no effect and then I found a thread on this at Jowood that I had posted in earlier. Seems like they have figured out that when you have played the demo, then bought and started the game, you are allowed to start from the point where you got to in the demo (Game automatically transfers the demo savegames). Doing this, however, results in the Druid disappearing problem.

http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.p…70#post1926570

Doesn't appear to be a solution other than deleting the demo, its saves, and reinstalling and RESTARTING the game. Bummer. So, unless a fix appears for this, I will just whack the Druids down and steal their stuff…

not sure what character types are in the demo but since there are no nordmarians in the demo could it be possible that you will have a problem with all of them. i know the guy for the shy deer quest is a ranger so that explains why the rangers aren't missing bodies and the druid is perhaps. you might want to check so as you don't have to restart your game later.

Yes, this could get messy. Just ran into Thorus and he had no head. Spoke to him fine, but what will be next? BTW, hope old Thorus wasn't important as I led some Ogre's back into town and he was killed.

I GOT the same problems with playing Demo and NA version! Have you tried to reach Wolf Clan? I could not walk up the slope without crashing to "W_T_G". Restart? NO!!!!!!!!

Guess you won't see me around for a few days since I have to restart

Where's the Guru? No, really, a real tech guru. I think that this problem must have a solution. The missing body parts and disappearing textures DO exist in the game and ARE on the game disk. Thanks to playing the demo and starting from a demo savegame, we have lost those things, yet we know that they exist and where they are. Problem, how to locate, extract and install them.

Thought: It is possible to cheat in the game, as we know, and spawn items. Can we use cheats to spawn the missing entities? Druids Robe/body or a whole druid. Thorus's head, or a whole Thorus? Can't find this stuff in an extensive cheat list I d'led. My god, I've put so many hours into this game and I don't want to start over…

These types of bugs are really funny (except for those experiencing them, I guess). It seems the developer had strange sense of humour…

Funny, like the time you got run over by a truck. Laughed my ass off.

Curious, you are correct and Mudsling, I feel your pain. All of Nordmar is unplayable. The NPCs you can talk to appear as floating heads and speaking to them gives 'Where's the Guru'. Game Over.

So. unless someone has got the SOLUTION to this problem, its dump a level 26 character and weeks of gameplay to start over. Very dark are the clouds over the forests of Myrtana…

Well I got this crash today and I never played the demo. I had not installed the patch yet but the link to the demo is not valid.

There are a variety of reasons for getting 'Where's the Guru'. If you never played the demo and crashed while talking to a disembodied Druid, that would be something quite unusual. How did you get the crash?

I am getting it at the start of the game. It hits during or after that first little opening fight. I have restarted the game a few times and it has happened in a different spot and time played, but has happened every time I play.

Check out the tweaks thread; you might need to change some .ini settings. Your problem is most unusual!!

Never have found a solution for this problem, so I dumped my character. Starting over works well.

The other problem I mentioned, disappearing skeletons, is Shader 1.4 related. I can use 2.0 and get a pretty good framerate, and then I see skelly's clearly, but my framerate in Myrtana cities particularly, really plunges with 2.0. I can also use 3.0 whenever I want a slideshow.

well i just found out about this bug as i've only just got the game, and its been over a month since there was a post here so im hoping someone has figured something out.

i played the demo, and used my savegame from the demo and i to encounter this problem when i see porgan.

i've been searching for hours on how to fix this with no luck, seriously there has to be a way to fix this somehow, with all the people out there that do modding and stuff there has to be a solution.

what i dont understand is how it happens, as the demo basically had everything from the full version in it as far as i could see.

please dont let this issue die as i can't believe i have just spent the past week leveling and will possibly have to start all over again.

there is no way i will do that, i will give up the game or possible cheat if i have to start again and i dont want to do that as i am having such a good time playing this game.

i dont want to spend more time playing this if i am not going to be able to complete the game

i have patch 1.12

does anyone know if theres a savegame editor out there? or if not somewhere to get savegames them self so i can atleast get to where i was without having to do it all again

there has to be a way to fix this, with my meddling i thought i found a solution but like has been said it seems to be because of the .g3savdat file.

i tried using the .g3sav file from my demo save where i was up to porgan but with a .g3savdat file from the start of the game.

it shows up as day 15 in the load game screen but still only loads to the start of the game

but there has to be a way!

(Edit)
maybe the community will be up for helping by offereing saved games that dont have the error, if anyone is willing to help please post.

i was up to the area where you meet porgan, but i had completed the first 3 areas and almost all of montera and discovered ortega, i was level 19 at this time with a mix of AK, and sword fighting.

it doesn't need to be the same but if anyone has any saved games from around that time maybe it can help people who have this problem so we dont have to start again!

You CAN'T use SG's from the Demo with the full game. There was just TOO much left out of the demo version. You MUST restart!! Sorry.
