I think one of the the tricks with the Gargantuars are the Snow Peas (to slow them down) alongside the Melon-pult, or alternatively, the Threepeat/Torchwood combo. I'd opt for the former, but that's just my personal preference. The whole trick is to keep him from throwing the imp into your ranks where he starts tearing you up (he's good at zombie judo, karate and bare knuckle brawling. He's wiry. He plays the melodica, lol). Slow him down with the snow peas and mess him up with the melon-pult, IMO.

I didn't mess with I, Zombie because I didn't enjoy that one much, so I've only managed 3 flags there. I've got 12 flags on vase breaker, and I was literally 1 shot away from making it thru another.

The imp was no problem cause all my plants had pumpkin protection the big ones grounded my army.

BTW
Vasebreaker : 10
Zombie : 7

How can I see the height of my Wisdom Tree?

After it reaches a certain height(I can't remember what now--50 or 100 feet), it will say so. Keep feeding it.

You both are dooming me to more sessions of Vasebreaker now, you know…

Just started playing it myself, I'm on level 2-8 as I type this. Does the game automatically save your progress?

Also, how many Sunflowers do you go with? I've been going with 2 full rows, or 1 row+ a row of sun-shrooms. On Day maps- one row + extra 2 plants.

*Edit* Just got the keys to Dave's shop. Any advice on what's worth the gold?

@JonNik- Sleep is overrated. Welcome to the cult.

@JDR- yes, the game is very good at letting you save anywhere at any time. I played the entire game minus a couple mini-games using a single column of generators, sometimes using the two-headed sunflower available from Dave. After some advice on those troublesome mini-games, I now build 2 columns of generators and eventually replace column 2 with something after I've built enough of a bank. For $200, the rake is surprisingly useful--it allows you to get an extra generator or two in the ground before getting your first column of shooters in place. Investing in seed slots is a very good idea--that's where I'd spend your big bucks first. When cattails and wallnut repair show up, buy them ASAP.

I'm pretty sure it only saves 'on exit' but I'm not positive; it might save occasionally during play.

@JDR: What dte said. The rake is well worth the 200 gold for the extra time it buys you, and the xtra slots plus cattails and walnut replacers are some of the stuff you'll use most. Having two rows or at least one and a half of sun producers is about right for most scenarios, and as dte says, you can dig them up toward the last flag and stick in something offensive when you need to.

I'm up to 12 flags in Vasebreaker.

I suppose we need to define "on exit". If you click to the main menu from the middle of a zombie attack, you can turn off your computer and come back to the same zombie attack later on and your plants and the zombies will be right where you left them. No special "save" is required. That applies to all 4 modes. If the power blinks mid-game, I think you lose only the attack you were working on.

You're right. It saves when you leave the current level, that's what I should have said.

Damn, I spent my first 5000 on the twin-sunflower power up, now I wish I hadn't.
I wish more details were shown about the items before you purchased them, like how much sun they cost to grow.

Too bad you can't sell back something once you buy it.

That was my first purchase, too. I didn't regret it, since I ran the single column of generators. I believe the sun cost is shown at the bottom of each seed pack, even when they're in Dave's car. I know they are once you own them.

How do you stop the Bungie-Zombies from stealing plants?

Umbrella leaf deflects Bungie Zombies or it's supposed to. I never actually used it, the best way to get those guys is with Wintermelon or some kind of cold based attack (Ice shroom works the best). They freeze there and take all kinds of damage from you're other plants.

Plus you can use Jalapeno or some kind of bomb plant to kill them.

My favorite plant is the little guy, garlic. He doesn't get much respect but is great at keeping the zombies away from the top row and bottom row. It herds them into my "killing zone" put in some gatling peas with torchwood in the middle three rows and nothing gets by. Until those freaking giant zombies squash the garlics then I have my coblauncher take them out before they kill all my sunflowers and put up another garlic as fast as I can.

God I love this game

Yep the lowly garlic clove has saved my butt many a time. A solid row of them is fun to watch.

Just finished it and got the silver trophy. The end credits and soundtrack were quite entertaining to watch.

So I assume I have to play through it again to get the gold trophy?
