What Christian overtones?

Yeah, she's annoying. She reminded me of a lot of people I knew in High School that were way too upfront about their faith to really be serious about it. I kept waiting for an episode where the guy she's into tries the whole 'You don't want to die a virgin, right?' move.
I didn't notice anything else that had overtones though.

Maybe I'll give it another go later. But this sort of thing in (mostly US) series makes me wonder if the writers are Christian and wanted to insert some evangelization into their story. It turns me off.

I only saw the first episode of Falling Skies, but it was only so-so, so (heh) I didn't follow up on that. Might change my mind when people say it's getting better.
Since I saw that Star Trek: TNG is coming out on Blue Ray next year, with redone effects and in new splendor, I realized that TOS had already been remastered as well, which has prompted me to seriously consider watching all of Star Trek again, in chronological order. It's been so long since I watched anything (exluding Enterprise) that it'll quite literally be like new.
I might even go ahead and add the Animated Series to the mix, which I have never seen before.

I didn't see Torchwood mentioned in the thread anywhere - it certainly deserves a spot in a sci/fi tv list, particularly if one enjoys modern day Dr Who. (Not my kettle of fish - Tom Baker, Willy Hartnell and John Pertwee FTW!)
Whilst I've only seen the Children of the Earth serial in Torchwood, I quite enjoyed it.
I'm also quite surprised no-one has mentioned Sanctuary; Amanda Tapping's new show post SG1/SGA. If you've not seen it, think Jules Verne and combine it with Victorian and Gothic touches in a modern day setting.
This is into its fourth season now and has had some great moments scattered throughout. The Requiem episode from the first season especially was great and featured some of Tapping's best acting. Probably not for everyone, but I've had fun with it.

Actually, the latest T'Wood, Miracle Day is better than any of the earlier stuff.

I don't generally accept statements like this without a little more effort gone into the reasons why. Cheers.

Sorry, just too much drama bullshit [Falling Skies] in what should be a fight for survival. Some nice ideas, terrible execution.
Been trying to get back to my Farscape DVD collection and that's pretty good sci-fi, if I do say so.
