GOLDEN ERA GAMES [developer] 2 minutes ago
I have not tested on a Windows 10 machine in over a year. When I threw it onto my new HP Laptop with it's own steam client, for the first time in years it showed problems with booting up and setting a full screen mode. This has to do with newer display chips actually not supporting 16 bit depths any more at high resolutions. This and three other bugs related to environment permissions all only appeared after a little testing and rebooting. I had solved all four bugs for all machines and rebuilt the executable in about 20 minutes after figuring out how they were caused on any machine and how to best solve them. Right now the game assumes that when the machine has chucked a wobbly in the most basic sense of what it permit the game to do, I throw it off to a retard ranch function where it starts asking questions like "What modes do you support at a matching ratio with lowest level depth for speed?" and then I set the mode based on that. Was not a problem for 16 years under Windows under any version. It's solved now and new build fixed all these issues.

Windows 10 can be blamed for a lot of things, but certainly not for Cleve not delivering.

The only part of this that isn't hilarious to me is that this braindead moron will, once again, suffer no penalty for being able to be such a public douchebag. If I had any authority in Steam I'd make sure that, at the very least, he would be banned in perpetuity.

I thot Steam would reject this from the beginning, especially after the empty legal threats 5 years ago.

However, my buddy out to me that may be Steam is curious themselves. Plus, controversy doesn't hurt in gathering eyeballs.

My guess is that Steam barely looked at the situation. When you look at all the garbage and shenanigans on their platform, they clearly don't pay much attention, and only very rarely take any kind of action against devs. They banned a handful of hardcore arseholes recently, but only after a long period of customers being mocked and abused.

I think that could give him more ammunition, even more others to blame but himself???

Best to ignore the whole thing.

They would tell you than they have a refund policy to protect the innocent customer against under par or not fun products but they can do nothing to protect the idiots who are ready to wait 20 years for a game developed by someone who has behaved consistently as an antisocial nasty liar with doubtful credentials and a scornful well documented, by himself no less, hate for naive gullible idiots.

Well Cleve has been pretty actively mocking and insulting his forum goers. But he's kind on and off with it, maybe it depends on if he's taking his meds.

I see the epic codex thread has been banished to the lower deeps of the Codex, where there are older and fouler things than the Grimoire release thread…

Thats a sensible thing, but I think the thread will return from the abyss someday when a new release date is set. The temptation is too much.

A fitting quote from Edgar Allan Poe

"We stand upon the brink of a precipice. We peer into the abyss—we grow sick and dizzy. Our first impulse is to shrink away from the danger. Unaccountably we remain… it is but a thought, although a fearful one, and one which chills the very marrow of our bones with the fierceness of the delight of its horror. It is merely the idea of what would be our sensations during the sweeping precipitancy of a fall from such a height… for this very cause do we now the most vividly desire it."

Tomorrow, mid-day, but no mention of which time zone

Cleve: "I have to get some sleep. I fully expect the game will be available for purchase on Steam sometime tomorrow around mid-day."

And he even mentioned The Grimoire sequel and a new fallout type rpg game.

Finally, I asked Cleve about his post Grimoire plans. His dream is to be a full time Independent game developer. As well as Grimoire 2 (which he hopes to make modable,) he has plans for a Fallout clone to tap into the post apocalyptic market as well. Fans of that series and its forerunner Wasteland have something to look forward to now as well.

I remember that interview. So in 2004 it was almost done and coming out before Christmas . I doubt that's the oldest one either.

Once I saw someone make a list of all of Cleve's promises of release and assurances of how close the game was to being done in the last 20 years, all of which were almost identical to each other. I kind of feel like that should be an obligatory add to the first page of any Grimoire discussion so we don't have to explain it to newbies.

From: http://twocredits.co/columns/grimoir…oken-promises/

A non-comprehensive list of previously promised release dates I dug up:
Sometime in 2003 (promised via Grimoire website)
October 2004 (via Grimoire website and again on Grimoire website)
“Mid 2005” (via Grimoire website)
July 2008 (promised via Grimoire website)
“Fall 2010” (via Grimoire website)
May 2013 (promised via Indiegogo)
May 31, 2014 (as promised on Indiegogo)
May 29th, 2017 (as promised on Greenlight)
July 7, 2017 (as promised via Steam page, reported on at TechRaptor, PCGamer, among others)

pibbur who makes no promises

EDIT: This message from the Steam Forum is kind of cute: "You do know the original Release date was back to something like 2014, right ?"
