DA:Inquisition - Trespasser Reviews

by Myrthos, 2015-09-16 12:59:06

Here are a few reviews for Dragon Age Inquisition's Tresspasser DLC.

Game Revolution, 4.5/5

Trespasser is one of the best DLCs in recent memory. It could be argued that Trespasser should have been a part of the original game since it wraps up Dragon Age: Inquisition so cleanly, but it does resonate as a distinct epilogue and holds up to the test of what should count as extra content. Apart from a few quibbles, Trespasser treats its cast of characters, the main game, and the Dragon Age series respectfully, balancing fan-service nods, thoughtful level design, and robust combat. For that, it's close to being a miracle.

Bitcultures, 8.4

Combat is largely business as usual. It’s only recommended that players level 20 and over embark on Trespasser, but as you can only start it once you’ve finished with the main plot and most players will have swept Thedas up in their wake, that’s unlikely to be an issue. As befits DLC specifically designed to be played post-game, the fights are pretty tough across the board. Most won’t present a serious obstacle but for a few notable encounters- one is particularly frustrating. Of the two bosses, you have the choice to fight or save one. But it isn’t immediately obvious how to do the latter- especially since in the meantime you’re under constant attack with your party launching themselves into the thick of things. The other boss is mostly just irritating. The fight is mostly reduced to throwing everything you’ve got against a health bar roughly the width of Thedas itself and there’s no compelling reason for it to be a boss that I could see.

Kotaku:

Most players will be in this thing for the story, though. Trespasser delivers that much more consistently. Back at the Winter Palace, your options for political intrigue and power-brokering are sadly limited, but you’ll have several welcome opportunities to tour the palace grounds and catch up with the members of your original team. What’s Cassandra been up to with the Seekers? How’s life in Tevinter treating Dorian? Is Vivienne still the worst? Is Blackwall still kind of irrelevant? How’s Cullen doing, and would it make you like him even more if you learned he loves dogs? (It would.)
