Risen - Review Flood #9

by Dhruin, 2009-10-26 10:20:01

Time for another Risen review flood with all the links we've collected since the last one.

  • Britbox - This UK Xbox site says 6/10, with the title "not feeling at home" on a console but worth it for fans of the genre willing to put up with some foibles.
  • Cheat Code Central - a "slow burn" RPG for the patient.  The score is "Great" at 4.4/5.
  • CrispyGamer - A "wholesale ripoff of the Gothic formula" might be seen as a negative but it's what Piranha Bytes fans want.  The rating is "Try it".
  • College News Review - Solid and enjoyable despite the flaws.  Rating - "B"
  • Buttonmasher - This New Zealand site looked at the X360, with the writer a fan of Gothic. Get it when the console patch is released, is the verdict.
  • Game Observer - 71% for the X360 version.  "Broken but functional" (!)
  • ActionTrip - "Engaging gameplay" but Piranha Bytes "needs more work in the story department".  The score is 8.1/10.
  • My Gaming - "Ruined" by poor production values, this console review scores of lowly 43%.
  • Gamer Limit - "What you get when you combine the depth of Oblivion with the accessibility of Fable". 8.5/10.
  • Console Monster - 64%

Here are the international reviews (apologies for the lack of summary).

Thanks to everyone who sent in links.
