USB Headset goes wild

Hello,
I have problems with my USB Headset, it might sound stupid but whenever I use the headset & run full screen processes (games or movies) my laptop freezes completely, nothing responds but the continuing pressure on shutdown button to restart it, not even the CD-Rom functions. Tried running movies, games w/o having the headset connected and it worked like a charm.

Headset is: Speedlink Medusa NX

Laptop: Acer Aspire 5553G

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Are there any other USB devices plugged in ? Is USB enabled in the BIOS ?

I have a USB Mouse plugged in and is working perfectly, so I guess that makes USB enabled in BIOS.

EDIT: I think it has something to do with Power provided to the USB-platform in the notebook, there isn't enough power to run the headset (gaming headset, i assume it consumes a good amount of power) through the USB, I'll try detach the battery & run the computer directly plugged with the charger's cable. Are there any consequences to this thing for a laptop? I mean ignoring the battery-role while in house, can that cause any malfunction or errors in the future?
