Thanks for the newsbit, Killias, I knew the fans would be on to it as soon as it happened. ;) Twas posted here as well by Fanest. http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26861

Still waiting for Dsmfix to be updated as well. I'm also curious if players manage to get the current version of DsCfix working ok with the new Steam version.

Edit:
It didn't take long! Here's a nice handy guide to get Dsmfix going again: (links to new files within...)

Finally. I've been waiting for this to play the game. I use Windows 8.1 and while I know there are workarounds, installing GFWL is not high on my list of acceptable workarounds so I've put this one off. I guess I can now prepare myself for the pain that is Dark Souls.

Yeah, I'm really excited about this. This might just be the impetus for me to replay Dark Souls, after playing both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2 for a second time earlier this year. I actually had the post ready much earlier, but, for some reason, I had issues with the editor. I was just squeezing the post in between work things, so I had to postpone it for a few hours.

Also, thanks for mentioning the DSFix update. I totally forgot to include that news in the original post.

I don't care for this game at all, but since many do...

Some mod called DSfix got banned by game publisher for whatever DMCA reason (and from what I could understand that mod doesn't add/unlock/infringes any copyright material but fixes some game omissions).

Seems Namco's move caused fuss all over internet. The mod is still available on it's creator's blog and it's complatible with nonGFWL version:
