So the main competition for best in show weren't even playing in the proper genre...

I'd say enhanced editions shouldn't be up for consideration of annual awards; that goes for our RPGWatch GOTY too. I know it's been a slow year for RPGs, but still. Well, I suppose I should just be happy a turn-based game won, even if it's not one I like.

So you re-release the same game with a few patches and get the same rewards as you got last year. Give someone else a chance.
Actually, something by the name of "Ni no Kuni 2" won best RPG at Gamescom 2017. D:OS2 wasn't even a nominee, probably cause it wasn't out yet.

Oops; still they shouldn't be eligible for further pc awards (imho). I suppose rewards for the consoles would be justified.

I'm still waiting for a physical version of the game. Until then, I won't buy it.
Well, maybe the PS4 version, which *is* physical ...
