I recently installed the newest 1.13 mod with new inventory system for JA2. Oh my God, it's like the most hardcore gun porn you can ever have. JA2 went from being a favorite game to being a passion now. I used the older 1.13 that basically adds a crap load of guns, but this version is just nuts.

With the new inventory system you can outfit your mercs with all kinds of combat vests and leg rigs. Plus they added even more weapons. It even seems to make the enemies a bit smarter, they try to flank you. There's also a new action point system that seems to be better. It makes a lot of actions a bit more realistic as far as AP cost is concerned.

Anyways, I'm not sure if this was news awhile ago or not, I did a search and didn't find anything. If anyone is interested, you can download the mod from here:

How is the amount of micromanagement? Did it increase? As much as i adore JA2, the amount of micromanagement was a problem for me.

I guess I don't expect the update to include comfort options like the ability to design templates for equipping mercenaries, so that as long as the required equipment is there, one click can fully re-equip a mercenary. But at least the update should not add too much micromanagement.

Yeah, there's a lot of micromanagement. If that isn't your cup of tea, then it's probably best to avoid, though you can select an option for the old inventory system.

Personally, I love outfitting my mercs and repairing, combining items and such.

There is no template system, unfortunately. That sounds like it would be beyond the game's ability.

I like equipping my mercs, but I don't like having to empty firearms to put all their ammo into a new clip and other such things.

Well, I played through JA2 only recently. So it might take years for me to return to it. Until then, I might feel more ready to face the micromanagement again if the other features are so great (and they do sound great).
