I'm sorry, this article is just too funny to keep to myself. The Ugandans are going to launch a probe into space. With helium.

This is a good one to roll out when people start pulling the "all nations and cultures are equal" nonsense. I'm sorry, they just arent. I'm wondering if it's indeed real, or just a hoax to sneak official funds from the treasury.


Uganda to launch it's first space probe

Nsamba revealed that the space probe has self-defence, anti-time missile features, which protect it from being hit by missiles destined to destroy it in case it passes in the space of another country.

No it's still there for me. Not sure if prank or not. You can certainly use Helium weather balloons to get into the upper reaches of the stratosphere, the "edge of space" so to speak. A cool project for ambitous hobbyists. Of course reaching an orbit that way is not possible, and the "anti missile" statement indeed makes it sound like a prank.
