I finally got around to seeing Oblivion yesterday.
I liked it quite a bit, and I can finally say that I've seen a movie from 2013 that didn't disappoint me. Expectations might play a factor, as I wasn't expecting much, but I still have to say that I'm a bit surprised I haven't heard or seen more people talking about this film.
I think it's also worth mentioning that I'm definitely not a fan of Tom Cruise. To be honest, I've never really liked the guy at all, and the same goes for most of his films. I'd have to go all the way back to Interview with a Vampire for the last Cruise movie that I really liked prior to this one.
Good movie - if you're a fan of sci-fi at all, you need to see it. Try to avoid any spoilers prior to watching it though.
As for Cruise, have you seen Tropic Thunder?
Yeah, it had its moments. Like many, I didn't even realize that was him until the end of the movie. I should probably watch that again.
I don't think I've ever watched Collateral all the way through. It didn't grab me at all, and the cast is one of the reasons why. I'm still a fan of Michael Mann though. I thought Heat was one of the best crime dramas I've ever seen.
I've never seen Manhunter, but you led me to Google it. I might have to check it out sometime.
Red Dragon was actually pretty good as a popcorn film.
Manhunter has more edges … and an 80s vibe. It's a bit hit or miss. Interesting film though.
Star Trek Into Darkness
4/10
Very pretty, VERY stupid.
I still loathe Abrams with all of my heart.
(and I was really disappointed to see people are still drinking Budweiser 300 years from now).
