A new game from Paradox Interactive is always cause for celebration though, even if the EU-series itself is my least favourite of their grand strategy series (Victoria is my favourite)

Why would there be, after all EU3 is only THE BEST FREAKING GAME EVER EVER EVER EVER!

Before CK2 came out, I would have agreed with you.
Anyway, looking forward to EU IV nonetheless!

I have CK2 with the Islam expansion, and though I like the game a lot, comes nowhere near EU3 (for me). Guess it's because of the mission system in EU3 that keeps me going for goals. I don't care about 'sandbox' games so the mission system keeps me better focused I think.

I thought Victoria 2 was the game that firmly planted EU3 into the category of "lesser" Paradox titles

My favorites are EU 3 and HoI 3,I think CK 2 is best EU game but I am attached to those 2 games.With EU 4 will come new engine(or at least newer version of current Clausewitz engine) so Victoria 3,CK 3,HoI 4 will probably soon follow in new engine.
