Apparently it contains also many bouncing breasts, but that's also kinda everywhere so I'm not sure how a 13yr kid will react (assuming it's extreme and impossible to ignore).

Basically there are giant balls that can kick ass and have a bunch of cannons and can withstand atomic bombs. Then there's Qwenther and Havia who outsmart them and become famous and the whole story is just them figuring out the weaknesses and beating everyone else. Of course you have to have the teenagers be the ones beating everyone up though because that's the law of mecha. Even the commander is only 18 -_- not saying there's anything wrong it's just so cliche…

Art- It was pretty average

Sound- I liked some of the sound tracks and the voice actors were nice too

Character- They do a good job with the characters and it's entertaining watching Qwenther always awakening his inner genius at the last moment and saving the princess. It's always funny when they throw in the pervert element of the 2 mc's too. The producers made good antagonists that made you want to smack them and it brings out the mc's good points even more. There isn't much character development though since they were basically at the peak from the start.

Story- Loved it. It was basically repeating but it kept be hooked the whole time just watching them fight Objects. They waste a lot of time explaining the plans and stuff though even though if you're a normal human being it's hard to keep up with sometimes.

Basically if you like action and a little bit of humor it will probably fit your fancy. You don't have to like mecha to like this. Personally I'm not a huge mecha fan but I really liked this anime.

I didn't watch it but might give it a shot - it's just not a thing I'm looking for so I'm not sure if I should give it a try. Dunno if it's different enough to keep me following it to the end.

Heavy Object main characters are two guys. It's full of teenage sex jokes (like getting found reading porn) and some fanservice.

The plot is somewhat interesting and the action is pretty good*.

So there is nothing different from other anime so it's been there, done that? Okay, apart from new names and outfits on protagonists...
Ah, well, will skippit then.

It's one of the rare anime where science is used to defeat opponents, but beside that it is generic.

Out of the Spring new shows I watched, my favorite first episode was Koutetsujou no Kabaneri (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress).

It can be resumed as Feudal Steampunk Japan Snowpiercer with Zombies.

Lots of people claims it's a ripoff of Attack of the Titans. They are lying, unless it only take a very generic "post-apocalyptic earth where humans are under attacks by monsters" theme for things to be ripoff these day. The setting, characters and the plot are different.

Glad to hear you like it. It is one of my most anticipated action Anime series.

Folks can't appreciate and review a show for it's own first, and latter on make a connection to other similar shows. But even if it is similar, there has to be a difference between two anime's .

And yeah… well, guess people can whine about everything and craving for some originality,when in fact they themselves struggle to come up even with a single original thought. Sometimes it is just ridiculous. And I don't know what people really expect. Oh, well...

I will wait for a few episodes come out, or even till the show finishes,and then give it a go.

Which is a good thing. I tend to watch shows only when are completed because I just can't wait a week for another 20-30 mins episode.

Oh and I haven't watched Attack on Titan yet. Yes I know I suck.

Yay its available on amazon prime UK as well!

I saw the first episode on Amazon last night. It was pretty good and I like Samurai/Feudal/steam-punk look.

3 episode into Mayoiga and seems like it's going to be one of these psychological horror-comedy finally. Everyone is so clearly crazy that it's just hilarious even if there is something nefarious happening.

At the beginning of the last week(or little before), I began to watch movies of Hayao Miyazaki.

Started with, and watched until now...
The Castle of Cagliostro 1979
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind 1984
Castle in the Sky 1986
My Neighbor Totoro 1988
Kiki's Delivery Service 1989
Porco Rosso 1992
Princess Mononoke 1997

...Spirited Away is next...I saw that one a few years back. But going to watch it again of course. With fresh eyes.

I really can't explain why I never watched Miyazaki's work.
It really amused me, his work is something splendid.
And the reason why I started to watch his work is because of this great video,
Hayao Miyazaki - The Essence of Humanity

Until now Kiki's Delivery Service is my overall favorite of Miyazaki's creations. It is a delightful movie. I think, in this movie he encapsulated and summarized some of the human behaviours towards each other, some inner emotional struggles, and finding ones place in a society and learning and growing through experience,also learning from others, helping others, getting trough life and getting along with life.

The most humorous is The Castle of Cagliostro and Porco Rosso,also with fair amount of action and adventure in them. I like them very much,and the fact how the main character don't take the situations,often life threatening too seriously, specially in Cagliostro.

My second favorite is Princess Mononoke. It is a great story, a great adventure ride.

All of these movies are suitable for younger audiences, so, Jaz, if you are reading this, I can recommend all of these for your son to watch,or watch together. It should be fun.
And hope the outdated artstyle is not going to be an obstacle for the young man,hehe.

We already watched Castle in the Sky and Spirited away, and sonny liked both, so thanks for recommending Miyazaki's other works .

Finally finished watching overhyped Attack on Titan:

Dynamic, almost perfect blend of classic animation and CGI, absolutely amazing sound editing and superb opening score (read: I have to buy OST!), not boring anywhere, seems no filler, nice story.
Yet by the end of it I couldn't care less for characters. There is a cliffhanger, anime is supposed to continue early next year, but kill me if I give any thought about what will happen to main protagonists. Killed or not, staff changed or not, meh. Just gimme more of that music/sound/animation and I'm good!

In the meantime I've also finished anime Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic & Magi: The Kingdom of Magic. It's two seasons of the same thing, not sure why the title change.

It puts known figures from 1001 nights (Alibaba, Sinbad, Scherezade, Aladdin, etc) in quite a few new fictional adventures, it's full of humor and action, is easy to follow and in fights uses what we saw in plenty of RPGs - item boosted characters and summons. While first season tastes like a nice lemonade, the second one not only enriches the comedy but also brings some more serious thoughts into the story, thoughts that can be easily used in RL but somehow we always forget to mention them. In other words, first season was a bit mediocre anime while the second one hits the center of a target. It's based on ongoing manga and I've read there is material for at least one more season, I hope they'll make it.
Currently airing in Japan is Magi: Sinbad no Bouken about Sinbad's early days (aka prequel) so can't say anything about that one, noone elsewhere added it to their catalogue yet.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero) is currently airing on Crunchyroll and took me by surprise. I said already I don't want to watch anime till it's done, but gave this a shot with a few episodes thinking let's see, maybe it'll be worth watching later when completed.

Mild plot spoiler incoming, but don't worry, have to say what it's about.
A protagonist is some random neighborhood guy that gets mysteriously transported to a parallel world - a world from videogames. With swords and magic. And stuff. And he wants to get back home, right?
It's not the first anime with such idea (some examples are Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, Konosuba, Grimgar), but this one blew my mind of with one major RPG thing others completely forgot.
Reload your game and try with another path. Choice and consequence.
This anime doesn't have save/load anywhere so far (maybe it'll happen), but describes checkpoints - once the main protagonist dies, he's returned a few days back just like we'd see in all those horrible checkpointbased phonegames and ports from phones. And then the "hero" tries to do stuff another way. No, not to grind more or choose different weapons to beat some overhyped Dark Souls bosses. This is proper RPG, not a grinder here. So to progress, he'll make different choices in the story.
It's not finished airing and I'm not sure if it'll remain fantastic till the end, so don't forget a grain of salt. All I know is that I can't wait the next episode!

For all three titles I say recommended, each is great anime well worth your time, just don't expect any masterpiece here.

I did not see the other two, but bookmarked Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu…seems interesting.

No. It's available on DVDs and from what I know, noone is airing it worldwide.
At least not yet. Maybe Funimation does have it, but then it's US only.
Not that I'm very interested, it's a side story. Filler. And you know how I feel about DLC.

Filler or not, still, it is a nice addendum,and it was fun enough to watch. For me at least. I think you won't regret it if you watch it.
