Terry Pratchet diagnosed with Alzheimers

This is more hard for me to take than Jordan's death. I've seen somebody go through the slow decay of alzheimer's and it wasn't pretty. It is a very undignified and embarrassing way to go out. No control of bodily functions, rarely living in the present... *shudders*

Very funny stuff, although I sometimes get the impression I'm missing some of the jokes because they alludes to things I don't know.

Yes, they do.

Terry Prattchett is a man of enormous knowledge, and so many hints & details are only visible to those who have read in many scientific books as well. ;)

What I like even more is what I call "reading behind the lines" ... ;)

Too old for Rock & Roll, too young to die ? ;)

Some would say that the best thing that could happen is to die of a heart attack or something similar before you become a lost soul within your own body.

This has been a sad year ... and while the deaths of some older writers (like Vonnegut) have struck me, this is a real tough one because it is a 'living death'.

And Robert Anton Wilson's died as well :( Not been a good year for my favourite authors.
