"You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike", ugh…
What's sad is that there were really only a few rooms - maybe half a dozen. The maze seemed HUGE but it was just a tiny little thing!

Nobody mentioned Phatasmagoria, which is probably a good thing.

Zork was one of my favorite adventures for sure but the best would have to be Planetfall. Floyd was absolutely awesome! To this day I still mumble "Oh boy, are we going to do something dangerous now" when I save a game. And then they made me…. I had to… oh Floyd! I didn't want to do it! The devs made me… no, no I have to face the truth, it was my decision and my responsibility. <whimper> My shame!

Jeez blatantninja, why did you have to bring up such painfull memories?? What's the next thread? "Post pictures of the prettiest girl to break your heart?"

My favorite Let's Play on an adventure game has got to be Spoony's Let's Play of Phantasmagoria 2

God that was funny and that game was horrible. I'm soooo glad I never bought that one :)

Hmm tough one. This is not a definite list, as I haven't given it too much though:
1. Monkey Island 3.
2. Space Quest 6.
3. Space Quest 5.
4. Leisure Suit Larry 6.
5. Monkey Island 1.
6. Monkey Island 2.
7. Full Throttle.
8. Leisure Suit Larry 7.
9. Quest for Glory 5.
10. Leisure Suit Larry 1.

Looking at that list I realized I generally prefer the ones with mouse over the ones with only keyboard (trying to type every possible thing to do in a given room bored me after a while).

By the way, does Dune 1 count? If so, I'll have to squeeze it in somewhere near the top, amazing game.

Oh! And the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy adventure game! Lots of interesting things about lint in that one.

"You go south. (We were lying about the hall to the west.)" That was one very evil game.

I loved Hitchhiker's Guide. Played the game before reading the books and think that I would have liked it less the other way around.

Anyway my favorites: The Longest Journey, Journeyman Project, Grim Fandango, Dreamfall, Sam & Max, Myst

Edit: How could I forget the Journeyman Project. Loved that too.

I haven't played too many adventure games, so my "favorites list" is really just the ones I've played.

1. Monkey Island 1 & 2 (haven't finished the second but I plan to)
2. Still live ("life" maybe?) didn't finish it but it was amusing.
3. Eric the Unready

I never got too far into Eric the Unready because the puzzles were too much for me but I had a lot of laughs from that game. I recall a farm with a pig and for whatever reason, don't ask me why I know this, I found that if you type "fuck pig" you get a very frank note from the writer about how weird people can be (or something like that).
