Age of Decadence Updates

I can't view the video at work, but does Age of Decadence have magic use for the player character? No magic=no buy for me in a fantasy crpg.

No magic system. There is a loremaster background but he is more a scientist and specialist for ancient artifacts.

I like it. The character models look like they have improved quite a bit and the combat system looks great. Those guys sure do take alot of damage!

Thanks, GBG. I'll try the demo, of course, but I almost never buy a game that doesn't have some type of magic system. I know lots of folk here though are excited about playing Cleve's game. I'm sure the beta is right around the corner :devilish:

Finally another update, and… look at those graphics!
What an improvement compared to what was shown previously.

"It's coming"… The sooner the better, I say!

Oscar talks about optimizing Teron and merging it into one, seamless area here. There's also a new video showing off some gruesome combat animations.

Awesome vid. Loved the one where the PC stabbed a guy in the gut with a spear, lifted him over his head and then used gravity to stab him again.

Wish they would give some hint as to how soon 'it's coming'.

In this particular case I´m quite fine with "it´ll be done when it´s done".
At this stage it seems very unlikely the game won´t be finished and all the tinkering might make the game more attractive for larger audience which in effect might be beneficial for this type of cRPGs in general.
The kind of visual representation AoD goes for won´t feel dated anytime soon if ever and, frankly, I think it already looks better than quite a few of recent big budget titles.
Looking forward to it, that´s for sure.

I haven't had any doubts about this game for a long time. They've posted frequent updates for quite awhile now. It's when they go silent for long periods at a time that I write off the game as abandoned.

A hint would be nice though. Like I know that Frayed Knights will be released at the very latest by the end of this year, maybe sooner, but this game….I haven't a clue.

Same with Dead State. They have all these awesome details on the game with not a whiff of a clue as to how long they're expecting it to take.

It doesn't really matter anyways. I'll buy it on day one. I just hate seeing all these cool updates without some general idea of when to expect it.

A hint would be nice though. {snip} Same with Dead State.
Disclaimer: No facts, just speculation below.

I'd be very surprised if AoD is released this year, no matter how much I wish it actually would. Not trying to be snarky or anything, I just don't think it'll happen. But I do believe it will happen someday. 2012 is my prediction (possibly Q2, i.e. about year from now).

Dead State will not be released this year, I'd take that as a fact. IIRC, one of the devs wrote something to that effect (can't be arsed to search for a quote, so take this with a hefty dollop of salt) on one of their updates. But as with AoD, I have full faith on the fact, that they will finish the game someday. Late 2012 would be my prediction.

I can only speculate myself, and I have been quite wrong before! But my current expectation is a release of the demo in fall 2011, and release of the full game late 2011 / Q1 2012. Thats just from my "feeling" on progress and things left to do that were hinted at in recent updates.

Dead State could be released this year. I highly doubt it though. I'm thinking it will be late 2012. In their faq it says:
"When is it scheduled to be released?
Not in 2010."

Thanks guys. That is pretty much what I thought. Except I'm hoping they might shoot for Christmas this year for AOD. Now that would be a great Christmas present.

It would be nice if they could get Dead State done in 2012 sometime, but I seriously won't hold my breath on that. It hasn't been that long since they started working on it.

Thanks for posting, GhanBuriGhan.
Each update has me salivating more and more over AoD. :)

I think they should do it like Mount and Blade did it. Open paid beta at reduced price throughout the beta stage. It would even allow them to already get some income from it.

Don't know if that would work so well with a story-driven game.

I'd certainly stay far away from the beta process for such a game, lest I ruin the experience for myself.
