The first dev update for Dark Envoy explains how the developer is using motion capture.

Perhaps it is an overkill for an RPG game to have hundreds of motion capture animations, but we do not compromise on anything. After all:

This is a clip from one of our motion capture sessions in-house. It is taken directly from the capture software and unedited in any way, so you can see that the base quality is already great. We usually spend 1 hour for each animation clip (2-4 seconds) to clean it and make it perfect.

Compared to a laborious process of creating animations by keyframes, which can take between 1 and 3 days (depending on complexity), it is a great time saver and let's us focus more on other features and mechanics.

There are gameplay videos on YT. While the stupid phrases-repeating Baldurs Gate style during movement and the roaring music are annoying, the map graphics and the combat looks promising.
