Maybe I should go back to that save and just try the last dungeon, but I just don't feel like it will be fun.

You're right, it's not. I played three rooms of the last dungeon (the "darkest", I think it's called) and never went back to the game after that.

I loved the original, but only after modifying it to make it less grindy by editing the game files to allow for larger loot stacks and increasing the sell value for most loot. The game was still challenging and fun, but this allowed me to unfold the story without getting bogged down by too much repetition.
