Sorry for late response - I just didn't notice this post before. 
PC Gamer's arse got kicked with this gem and they whine about it making whatever excuses why it shouldn't be hard:

The game release had only two difficulty settings. Easy and normal. I always play games first runthrough on normal as it is supposed to be the difficulty designers had in mind while developing the game, but this normal was superhard. I did finish it on normal, the challenge doesn't steal anything from this game, just proves that hard is not equal to Dark Souls concept games media is trying to get the audience to believe. Blindly believe.
I know they added some other difficulty options later, but didn't check it.
