Aye Ripper, certainly one of the best openings for any series that I've ever seen.
Plot twists are bonkers but believable- absorbing present day drama

After the first four episodes and I am gob-smacked. It has been a long time since I have been so excited by a BBC drama & so refreshing to have it set in the present. No costumes, and no history lessons needed to be able to appreciate the emotions coursing through the characters as they cope with the manic plot twists. I say manic, but they remain believable nonetheless as plausible drama's we could all have happen in our lives. More surprising is that the rate of storytelling. Every second and every facial expression is made to count, but this never intrudes on the - real life time feel of the piece. If I have made Last Tango in Halifax sound mundane- it is not it is bonkers. For me the 'what on earth is going to happen next' factor is the biggest draw. But each scene on its own is already a mini stand alone story. If that is down to the quality of the acting the scene play or the production I cannot say. Last Tango is utterly absorbing and I cannot wait for more.
You know, I thought I was the only one, that thought that Gone Girl was one of the worst films ever made by a major studio. It was so bad I could only watch about a third of it before I fled the channel in horror, and it led to an irrational hated of the english actress Rosamund Pike which is only matched by my irrational hatred of the American actress Julia Roberts. I'm finding Sharp Objects dull, dull, DULL, but seeing that I've invested so much time in watching it I might as well finish up the last two eps tonight.
Wow how did I miss this, the trailer looks hilarious! The End of The Fucking World. Another cute dark comedy from Britain.
And there's a season 2 coming soon.Wow how did I miss this, the trailer looks hilarious!

Is the series This Is England'86 is good? I just stumble upon it while looking for shows similar to Skins.
Disenchantment. I really want to like it, but 5 episodes in it is just ok. At best it is amusing, but I think the premise has a lot of potential. Let's hope it picks up from here before it can get cancelled. I heard the Simpsons also started slow (though Futurama is my favorite by far)
