Hmmm... According to mobygames (which is a pretty good/reliable source IMO):
Game Browser : DOS > Role-Playing (RPG) (443)
443 Roleplaying games for dos. That's including expansions, shovelware.. etc...
Not a big number.
I'll try and create a list of DOS RPGs tonight. The list will include:
Nameofthegame - year of release - publisher. OK ?
The list of windows RPGs is much larger. But i'll make a list of them too
if someone will make them into a working database.
Even if this database thing is not happening, this list might be usefull for some
other purpose. It's a nice list to have anyway I think.
And even if mobygames is lacking two or three obscure games, those games would very likely be something that would not be making it to top10 anyway.... And it's not like we're doing something serious.. Well.. it is serious.. in a way ... but you know what I mean
ADDED: If there's anything else I could do to help this thing really happen.. let me know.
I've written a simple graphical RPG using C++ and the Simple Direct Media library.
I've written a commandline program in Java that converts roman numerals to arabic numbers.
I've written a pretty complex TODO-manager program in C.
I also wrote a simple command-line RPG in C.
I've written software for simple embedded systems in C.
But I have never done anything with websites, html, databases, SQL or anykind of internet s***t
