if this supposed to be the so praised dx11 version, im lmao'ing so hard right now; nothing impressive, its like they repacked the game with GeDoSaTo. And they ask money for this :lol:
I think the idea is just to release Dark Souls II on PS4/XBone and the PC version is just an afterthought since they'll be doing dx11 anyway because that's what the xbone console uses.
It looks like a pretty cool game; I might get it!

Nope it is not required to play Dark souls 1 to understand 2's story.
Although i will say that Dark Souls 1 feels much more polished than dark souls 2(purely on story and gameplay front).
Mind you both of them have issues like lag in online play(considering PvP and Co-op is on P2P connection),Fast Durability loss of weapons(Dark souls 2) and lack of optimization of Dark Souls 1 on PC(Use DSFix and PvP watchdog to fix it) .
Personally i recommend getting Dark souls 1 .
