Pharaoh vs Zeus vs Caesar 3 vs Emperor

i thinking of picking up one of those games on gog.com.

As you say they're all very similar. I suggest you pick the one whose setting you prefer.

Yep all of those are similar not much of a difference expect the setting. Though the Zeus and it's Poseidon expansion include heroes of Greek times like Hercules.

Another one to recommend to that list is Children of the Nile: Enhanced Edition.

I enjoyed Pharaoh a lot because I'm a big fan of the setting, but as a game I think Emperor was the most fun, possibly because it's the latest and they'd worked out more of what worked well or otherwise over the years.

I'd go for Zeus (+ Poseidon) all the way, for the mythological Greek aspects.

Otherwise Emperor, due to being newer and improved (apparently - I have no experience with that one).

I'd REALLY like to buy them - but they aren's translated, in contrast to the Sierra specimens I have. Yes, Sierra translated them.

But - as loing as they aren't translated, I'm not going to buy them. Even although I'd buy them any minute, so to say.

Interestingly, the very first Caesar game is translated at GOG.
I just don't understand it …

Personally, I had most fun with Pharaoh and The Emperor … I couldn't quite feel myself into Zeus, though … Caesar 3 got me hooked for a long time as well.
