SQUARE ENIX ANNOUNCES FINAL FANTASY XV UNIVERSE: A FULL-SCALE CG MOVIE, ORIGINAL ANIME SERIES AND NEW MOBILE TITLE BASED ON FINAL FANTASY XV
Free PLATINUM DEMO - FINAL FANTASY XV Available Tonight
LOS ANGELES (Mar. 30, 2016) - Tonight, at the star-studded UNCOVERED: FINAL FANTASY XV event in Los Angeles, SQUARE ENIX® revealed that FINAL FANTASY® XV will release worldwide on September 30th. Unprecedented in the entertainment world, Square Enix and its partners also announced a series of large-scale projects that compose the grand FINAL FANTASY XV Universe to be released within the same timeframe.

KINGSGLAIVE: FINAL FANTASY XV™ is a CG movie, presented by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Square Enix. The animated feature weaves together the complexities of kingdoms at war, royal relationships and epic battles in a tale that will set the stage for the main FINAL FANTASY XV narrative. The CG movie features an all-star cast with Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones) voicing Regis, the King of Lucis who has sworn to protect his kingdom, Lena Headey (300, Game of Thrones), voicing Luna, the princess who has been entrusted to deliver the royal ring of Lucis to Prince Noctis, and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), voicing Nyx. The title will be released digitally worldwide before the game’s launch. The announcement trailer is available for viewing here.
SYNOPSIS
The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the hallowed Crystal, but the menacing empire of Niflheim will stop at nothing to make it theirs. War has raged between the two for as long as most can remember.

King Regis of Lucis commands an elite force of soldiers dubbed the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king’s magic, Nyx Ulric and his fellow glaives stand before the crown city of Insomnia, fighting to stay the inexorable advance of Niflheim’s imperial army.

Before the overwhelming military might of the empire, King Regis can only salvage his kingdom by accepting anultimatum—he must cede all lands outside the crown city, and see his son, Prince Noctis, wed to Lady Lunafreya, the former princess of Tenebrae now captive of Niflheim.

As the war of wills rages, the machinations of Niflheim transform Insomnia into an awe-inspiring battleground, pulling Nyx into a struggle for the very survival of the kingdom.

BROTHERHOOD FINAL FANTASY XV™ is a new anime series that consists of five standalone episodes that delve into the extraordinary friendships between crown prince Noctis and his three comrades, setting the stage for the adventure players will set out upon in the action-packed RPG. The first episode is available now to stream on YouTube. Subsequent episodes will be released before the game’s launch. All episodes will be free. The series announcement trailer is available on YouTube here.

PLATINUM DEMO - FINAL FANTASY XV is a free download demo that offers a glimpse into the final game as it whisks players away to a fragmented dreamscape of Noctis as a child. This storyline is unique to the demo and will not be available in the final version of the main game. Players can take control of young Noctis as he masters various weapons, magic skills and driving. To overcome the many monsters within this fantastical dream world, young Noctis will have Carbuncle as is his magical guide. Players who complete the demo will unlock the exclusive Carbuncle summon DLC for the full game at launch. The demo is available tonight on Xbox One, and through the PlayStation®Store for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. A new trailer showcasing the demo is available on YouTube here.

A new trailer for FINAL FANTASY XV narrated by King Regis, titled “Reclaim Your Throne,” was also revealed, showcasing never-before-seen gameplay accompanied by music from composer Yoko Shimomura. Florence Welch of Grammy-nominated Florence + the Machine has created her own rendition of the Ben E. How many times have we heard in ridiculously stupid intros the words: Chaos and World?

To be honest, I'm not interested on this. It doesn't even play like a Final Fantasy. It looks pretty, and that's it.

Edit: Fixed! :)

Well, the graphics is a huge let down for a next-gen FF title, usually they push the limit of what graphics can be.

I think any open-world game designed for console hardware has to make some compromises on the graphics front. At least they seem to be showing an honest representation of the in-game graphics.

As always, I shall, of course, be buying the $269.99 version, in order to secure my exclusive limited edition variant Noctis PLAY ARTS -KAI- action figure. I note, with some disappointment, that there will be no cloth map.

Apparently PS 4.5 or PS4 4K is coming soon and all these games will look better than on PC :)

The console might be coming, but I very much doubt it will outperform PCs. The PS4 essentially is a PC, and all they can do is add a more powerful GPU. I don't see how they could add one that outperforms PCs without costing a small fortune.

New generation of GPUs incoming, new GDDR5X, new DDR4, new SSDs at least 6 times faster than current ones… On PC.
Meanwhile consoles are struggling and adding 4K resolution possibility completely missing a point by not concentrating on 60 FPS.

You know when will consoles outperform PC? Never.
You can see it though as rubbish brainwasher/hiddenmushroomadvertisment scenes like the one in latest Mission Impossible.

Ah a proper Final Fantasy JRPG after the disappointing Final Fantasy 13 trilogy. Though I'll probably wait for the PC release in a year, or more based on past ports.

Watch the series spiral more and more into complete and utter story-nonsense, linearity and a complete lack of game design as the number behind the name increases…

Seriously, watching a video of each game that came after 10 was more than enough to prove this.

They should really stop doing these games. Or just go on and on with this. Like a joke in Family Guy, repeating until it eventually becomes funny again.

Looks nice but the whole bro's on a road trip don't really interest me.
Probably will be fun to play it on pc at some point but nothing that I'll drool over until then.

For me, the downhill slide started with FF 8. I used to really like the series prior to that. For the most part, it's gotten progressively worse since then. FF XII was the only exception.

I can't say much about FF XV since I haven't played it, but it looks thoroughly uninteresting. The weird modern-day like setting does nothing for me.

Mobile pinball game? CGI movie? New anime series!? Square, you guys need to go back and remember how to make games again in a very bad way and here you are trying to do all this??

I don't think it's ever been as bad as 8. Eeeesh.

P.S. Joxer, that's 90 frames per second now. Per eye. ;)

I never played FF8, but I loved FF9 and FF10, and that's the last FF I liked.

FF 9 was the last one I enjoyed, though I missed XII and want to give it a spin someday. The series has just gone in a direction I don't recognize or enjoy anymore.
