I cannot say for sure, because I am replaying XCOM 2 using LW mods (not LW 2). I could say it does add to the game; actually it does overhaul the game. You can see, by reading the following text pasted from Steam's workshop LW2 page, that Pavonis itself uses the words "overhaul" and "total conversion" when describing the mod:

Long War 2 is a significant overhaul of XCOM 2 aimed at giving players the feel of running a worldwide guerrilla war against ADVENT and offering them a greater variety of strategic and tactical experiences.

Features include:
1) A much longer campaign, running for 100 to 120 missions on average
2) Infiltration mechanics that require you to send out multiple squads at once
3) Manage resistance Havens and have resistance members scrounge for supplies, gather intelligence or recruit more people to your cause
4) Nine soldier classes: Sharpshooter, Shinobi, Ranger, Assault, Gunner, Grenadier, Specialist, Technical and Psionic (plus Sparks for DLC owners), each with unique secondary weapons
5) Two new weapon tiers, lasers and coilguns
6) Dozens of new enemies and smarter battlefield AI
7) ADVENT strategic AI that tries to counter your moves

This is a "total conversion" of XCOM2 and will not work with other total conversions. It does include a new XComGame.upk.

Long War Studios' / Pavonis Interactive's mods SMGPack, AlienPack, LeaderPack, Toolbox, PerkPack, and LaserPack are already integrated into this mod (with different settings and functionality) and should NOT be activated when playing campaigns.

I'm confused. LW and LW2 both work with xcom 2 ? What is the difference ?

Pavonis Interactive (former Long War Studios) released 7 Long War mods for XCOM 2. You can see all of them in their Steam Workshop Page.

They first released six "Long War <insert suffx>" mods, which may or may not (your choosing) be installed/used together. You can, for example, install only Long War SMG Pack, which adds submachinegun-type weapons to the game. Or you can install Long War Alien Pack, which adds new alien and ADVENT types (ADVENT Rocketeer is a pain in the @ss with her rocket launcher).

Again, you can install all six mods or mix them the way you want it. Keep in mind both Long War Alien Pack and Long War Perk Pack change the vanilla game without overhauling it too much, by adding new enemies (LW Alien Pack) and by reworking the four vanilla base classes into seven as well as allowing you to choose one of three perks per soldier level (LW Perk Pack) instead of vanilla "choose one of two perks per level". Of these 6 Long War mods, Leader Pack is the one which provokes more internet rant, because the Leader abilities aren't THAT great and also because training a Leader requires a non-configurable (at least, not that I know of, and I would like to know if there is some way :) ), excessive amount of days, during which the leader being trained can't join your squad to do the missions. I hugely advise you to read each and all mods' page, so you can know which ones to use. I'm personally using all six.

On a personal note, as of now I would recommend everyone who intends to do a vanilla playthru to install those Long War mods (even if you install Leader Pack, you're not required to train a Leader), since they sweet the flavor of vanilla without changing it too much.

And what about the now famous Long War 2 mod? First, it is only one mod (instead of six), roughly 2.5 GB in size, which integrates all previous Long War mods (SMGPack, AlienPack, LeaderPack, Toolbox, PerkPack, and LaserPack) into it, with different settings and functionality. You need not the previous six mods anymore and you SHOULD NOT activate them alongside Long War 2. This mod alone changes the game as a whole in the way I pasted in my previous posting. It does allow multi-squad (base game doesn't) and it brings a new "infiltration" mechanics to the game, as well as an entirely new soldier class (the Technical). Long War six mods and Long War 2 are entirely different beasts: they both work with XCOM 2 and they're both "official" mods (if such thing does exist), but they're intended to work separately, not together.

I hope it helps! :)

PS: sorry for any eventual English grammar errors, since I'm not from USA/UK. I'm not used to write posts this size :)

This is less complicated than it appears to, believe me. Maybe it is my fault. In order to express an idea in English language, I tend to write more words than I should since I trying to express this idea in a language that's not my own.

I can put what I wrote in my last post on another perspective: if you're completely new to XCOM 2 (regardless of you're experienced in XCOM EU/EW), try to finish the vanilla game first or, at best, using the first set of Long War mods (those 6 mods I mentioned in the post above). Having tasted the game then I recommend you to use Long War 2 (which is a newer mod, released 17th January 2017).

A bit late to the party, but that is great what you did there.
Your Myrthos almost looks like me, besides me being older and having many more grey hairs and less muscles. For the rest I look a lot like your James Bond :D
