Game of Thrones

Although I despise this serie (books, as I don't care for the TV adaptation) seems episode 7 is already available for USA HBO subscribes.
Since there are many fans of this... um... there is no word disgusting enough to insert here ;), I thought you'd like to know. :)

What an ending! Good episode overall, I wonder what the consequences of Ned's proclamation as Hand will be. (Haven't read the books, maybe I will after the season finishes)

The series are getting better and better.
Although i loved the golden crown scene i have the feeling that we will not see much of the horde from now on and this is a shame .
Any idea who was this guy that fought for Tyrian ?

I'm completely absorbed in the series and I've only watched until episode 3 so far. The actors are sublime. I love just listening to them speaking. My favorite is still Arya. :) She's just lovely.

And yeah, I wonder how people are going to react to all the stuff that will happen. :smug:

The first season is almost over. I still enjoy it very much, but there are some pretty bad scenes here and there. The Arya training scenes are pretty cheesy. The long, long extended soft-core porn scene with Littlefinger talking to the prostitutes was excruciating. Yes, the women are naked and gorgeous and nice to look at, but the scene was bad and cringe inducing. Bits and pieces of it look cheap and rushed. But it's a symptom of a big but limited budget and ridiculously sprawling story.

My wife is completely captivated, and has never read any of the books.

100%. Much of the series reminds me of Hercules or Xena, only more painful because it's trying to take itself so seriously. I hate it even more when the show is so overt with the sexual material, as if to say, "Look how edgy we are! We're doing a soft-core lesbian scene!!!"

It's definitely excessive in a lot of ways, with too many characters that are rather absurd.

Still, I think it's very entertaining - and manages to fascinate despite the somewhat juvenile approach to character dynamics and sex/violence.

One of the things I loved the best about Martin's series is that he does this at almost every turn: He kills the wrong people. Bastards live far longer than you would ever want, and the honest, noble, good people lose their heads a third of the way through the book. It's one of the things about fantasy that became so common it was almost law; none of the main characters could die unless it was at the very end of the book. Reading about Ned's death for the first time was like a kick to the gut.

It really felt like it when watching too, even though it was the completely logical result of his actions in King's Landing.

Especially in the book, Ned became more and more interesting, investigating the incest and intrigue, becoming wiser to the ways of the Lannisters and King's Landing. The honorable soldier becoming almost like a detective.

And then he gets killed! I read this years ago, and still remember how shocking it was to read.

Joffrey can't stand the "wailing of women", he does not care about the "weak hearts of women", he does not "want" Sansa Stark. Is he supposed to be a suppressed homosexual turned sadist ? Would fit with his complicated relationship with Robert, who he sees as his father.

Joffrey is just a young boy with high testosterone levels, also the actor is fantastic.
Of course i don't expect him to stay long in power .

I have not read the books but if the nord guy tortures Jof's father into admitting of the incest who becomes the legit king ?
