Hardcore Gamer has posted a new preview of the Wasteland 2 beta, and come to the conclusion the game isn’t ready to be experienced.

At the end of the day, Wasteland 2 is everything inXile promised. It’s pretty, well-crafted, creatively different from the games which it draws its influences, and as fun as a beta can be — if quite rough around the edges, awfully short and easier than expected. It’s clearly not a perfect game, nor will it be for quite some time, but it does exist, however, and that in itself is quite astounding. In its current state, I would recommend Wasteland 2 only to the most-impatient of fans, but I implore all RPG lovers to keep an eye out for future updates and its eventual release. It’s simply not ready to be experienced by the lot yet, but it’s getting there, and it’s doing so with style.

Well everyone should know but you see we live in interesting times now. Early access is replacing how you play games. Like the Rampant Coyote said what does release mean nowadays? It is getting more confusing everyday.

Well in all fairness, beta versions can be almost like the final game, or alternatively, completely broken.

It's useful, if the previewer mentions what is the state of the game, currently. A couple of months from now, these beta previewers will probably mention that the game feels like complete, releasable game.

Beta should be enjoyable. Even without much textures. Good example is Krai Mira or Starfarer, very good gameplay and just still in alpha.

inXile has done a great Bards Tale. Wasteland 2 continuously stumbles has NO fun gameplay, font sizes are Microscopic, at least 3xtimes the current font size reqired! Waiting for the next beta or 1.0 release.

I would hope it means at the very least that the game is more ready to play on release, ie. we don't need a slew of patches.
