Seems you can't go multiplayer from PC with friends who buy phoneversion.
In real world this means I'd never be able to MP with txa! :D

Won't buy this "improved" version so fast, if at all. Seems all they did was adding some nicer graphics and that's it. Bah.

Looks like it's another flop from Ubisoft. They had lot of those in past year or so.I hope those mistakes cost them enough money force some changes.

This flop will teach them not to release games without UPlay again!

It's possible to play it almost full-screen and have a Windows Taskbar below the screen. It's handy for those of us who don't want to keep pressing Alt-TAB to switch to another program during gameplay. Yet, I played it for one hour and the quality of animation was not good enough for me. I think it could be better considering almost static screen picture.

Seems the disappointment is spreading and many say it's all a pure cashgrab. Because:

1. There is already 3rd party mod (I honestly didn't know before today) that allows even 4K resolutions:

2. There is 3rd party app that allows you to play original PC HoMM3 on android phones!

All you need to do is to buy HoMM 3 complete version on GOG. Means it has things this Ubi's HD release doesn't (expansions and random map generator).

I also have the GoG version, so I wasn't buying again on PC ... but I DID buy the iPad version, and it is a decent port.

For me ... that was good enough. Right now between playing Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) and Exiles on the iPad ... I don't have a lot of time to put into it ...

Indigo Prophecy? I did plan to buy it ages ago but never did. Is it as good as they say?
Although, I'd buy PC version ofc...

It is funny - I did two separate reviews for it 10 years ago (it released Jan 2005) and both sites are totally dead. One site doesn't even exist in Archive.org ... so getting a look back at my reviews - but I was able to find the text from my (always short by mandate) GamerDad review ...

I loved the game, but my basic thought was "incredibly deep and engaging interactive story wrapped around a series of often frustrating and annoying mini-games." I also note that "problems with the camera and controls threaten to grind the game to a halt, especially on the PC." It is very much a 'made for console gamepad' game.

I am enjoying the game, it looks great on the iPad, and I am using a MFi gamepad with the iPad that handles things very well. No annoyances so far ... only a matter of time :)

Well, the game is more or less junk, unless you consider QTE fun gameplay.... the beginning of the game is actually really good though, but it all goes downhill from there.

Well the android thing isn't that good if you read the reviews (ai doesn't do anything)...

I've read this point before and no. The hd mod only ads interface to the sides and a few more buttons and stuff to fill it but the game itself remains the same.
Don't get me wrong it is a great mod but it is not an H3 HD version by far.

This one is. All the graphics are actually HD 2D models and you can have the game displayed in higher resolutions with a normal interface (not one that takes half of the screen).

Well I don't know whats the status of VCMI for android but as far as I know the main project is far from being finished. On the other hand you can even play H3 on android with DosBox, but frankly, the interface is so misserable that you won't want to do it.

I haven't tried the android version of this release but I guess the controls will be optimized for a table touch screen, which might be very welcome for some people owning one.

The bad thing of this release, and it is a really bad bad thing, is that it only includes the original Restoration of Erathia game, not any addons. The addons (Armageddon's Blade and Shadow of Death), came with so many adjustments and improvements (specially to map editor, meaning way better maps) that playing the plain RoE feels like a tremendous step back.

Apparently Ubisoft can't find the source code for expansions (remember they belonged to NWC back in the day and seems like a few things got missing when they bought the franchise) so they couldn't even consider this HD upgrade for them. So I'm very pesimistic about the addons being published in HD ever in what would be the ultimate H3 edition.
