Normally I wouldn't post an interview that's not in English, but I couldn't resist this one. A Polish site called Gry Online interviewed Martin Iwiński about the delay.

The fourth quarter is in our industry one of the most important periods for publishers, but it is quite crowded, and the market has a limited capacity. How does it look from your perspective? Do paradoxically, change the release date is not a safer option? It's like a little situation with the second Witcher: after the date scheduled for the first quarter of the game was released in May and has not issued collided with the Dragon Age II.

We were ready to release the game in October, and the reason set a date of February there was nothing except the desire maximum pampered product. Is February is actually a better choice - I do not know. On the one hand, in the hands of the players will be more next-generation consoles, so we have the opportunity to sell more units, but on the other Witcher 3 will not come under the Christmas tree. We'll never know what it would be better from the point of view of the same date of issue, but better will certainly be the game itself, and this is after all the most important.

Did you expect to be so nervous reaction of the WSE?

Determination of the release date of February it was not the best news for gamers, or for investors. Players will have to wait, instead of play during the Christmas break, and investors would surely prefer to income Witcher 3 raised the score of the year. The decision has not been far from easy, but taking into account three years of the team and a huge financial investment, we need to make sure that the game will polish the one hundred percent. It is ultimately the players we evaluate, by buying our game (which really count), so that their verdict directly translate our results, and hence investor sentiment. So, dear players - all in your hands (laughs).
More information.

Google translations are funny. They can put words in the mouth of people who have never intended to say that.

Yep. I remember some incident with a football player, Arshavin or some such thing, who had said something to Russian media, which then got translated into a completely different article in England. Then, of course, the Russian media got hold of this "new story" in England (which was completely different from the original) and translated it back into yet another new story. Suddenly there were several versions of the same story all being presented as a new story. The whole thing was ridiculous.
