He's not afraid to say modern gamers are p******. He's a true gamer. He's one of us.
I understand why he focused his interests towards Japan. As the creator of Wizardry he was treated as a rock star there at fan conventions. He even ended up marrying the Japanese woman who was his interpreter and they have two children together now.
That said, his studio Animeigo has long been dying a slow and painful death. They have released nothing but obscure Japanese samurai films that cannot possibly sell to more than 1000-2000 people for a long while. They've been priced out of anime licenses for a long while and have lost their licenses for most all of their back catalog.
I really wonder how come they're still in business today.
