SRPG VenusBlood Frontier Comes to Kickstarter
The Surge: The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented - ScreenshotsThe SRPG and visual novel hybrid VenusBlood Frontier launched in Japan in 2012. Fortunately, modern interest in these genres means the game might be coming west! VenusBlood Frontier just launched on Kickstarter as a collaboration between developer Ninetail and publisher JAST USA. The game features turn-based SRPG mechanics with a twist. As the protagonist explores, he straddles the line between “law” and “chaos”. This leads to multiple potential endings.
The Kickstarter needs approximately $150,000 in funding. Right now, early bird tiers are still open which offer a digital copy for $29.

5 Essential Ingredients For A Great Open World GameThe narrative design and writing feel quite dated. The voice acting is great, but the setting and writing are traditional to a fault. Anyone who has played a fantasy game before probably shouldn’t expect any surprises. Sometimes I’m not even sure if it’s meant to be ironic: every single dungeon (so far) is a tower. Are you underground? Doesn’t matter, here’s a tower. The farther in I get, the more humor seeps into the dialogue.

Despite Kickstarter Failure, Knights of Light Heading to Early AccessWhere does the line between early access, release day, and post launch lie? Especially when we associated with their respective prices? After all, if you pay $150 to play the game 2 days before someone paying $120, does that mean the actual launch price of the game is $150?
The promising historical RPG Knights of Light is set to fall far short of its crowdfunding goal, but Rumbling Games Studio aims to move ahead with an Early Access release nonetheless.
Though three days yet remain until the Kickstarter campaign officially closes, the team has conceded defeat, as the project has raised little more than 10% of its total funding goal. However, the failure will not spell the end of the ambitious game, as Rumbling Games will instead move ahead with its “back up plan” of an Early Access release on Steam. Knights of Light will also be available via the Xbox Game Preview program and “PlayStation paid alpha.”
Further details on the upcoming releases—including pricing and launch window—have not been revealed.
