When it comes to gameplay, The Thaumaturge is primarily a conversation-driven investigative game, where players will get to make plenty of choices along the way. If the player does manage to find themself in a fight, the game throws up one of the more fun combat systems out there, which manages to be incredibly tactical without getting bogged down in having to deal with the minutiae of character stats or weapon upgrades.

After getting some hands-on time with Dragon's Dogma 2, allowing us to try the Mystic Spearhand and Magik Archer Vocation we are hooked. Our Dragon's Dogma 2 final preview (for real this time) included two of Dragon's Dogma 2 Vocations. This time it was the Mystic Spearhand gameplay and Magik Archer that we had some hands-on time with. And yes, this Dragon's Dogma 2 preview is from Destin, who is new to the series and walked away completely hooked.

Most of Unicorn Overlord’s issues end up feeling like nothing more than nitpicks. The tactical combat system is unique and complex while also being easy to understand, expertly blending mechanics from many of its peers with smart new additions of its own. The interesting terrain across the continent of Fevrith makes every fight feel unique, with some of the best map gimmicks in any strategy RPG. And because the campaign is told through the eyes of a diverse and creative cast, its tropey fantasy story is elevated in a way that a more traditional storytelling style wouldn't manage. The shorter, more personal stories work wonderfully to support a loop of exploration and liberation that always leaves you begging to see one more tale told, one more town rebuilt, and one more battle fought.

Nightingale has a lot of good ideas at its Early Access release, but they all seem to come with unfortunate caveats. The ability to create and jump to different types of realms offers almost limitless exploration, but it also means they all feel too much like the same randomized bits smashed together. The setting and concept is really interesting, but not much is done with it yet outside of your charming guide, Puck. There’s an excellent crafting system that ties seamlessly into your overall progression, but that progress is halted with painfully long periods of fetching materials and farming Essences too often. Nightingale is almost equal parts fun and infuriating, and as interesting as it is to explore the Fae Realms, anyone taking the plunge right now should be prepared for some frustration.

Modding for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a hotly discussed topic, and although there are currently Mods for the game out there on PC, players currently must use third party tools like Nexus Mods or Cheat Engine if they wish to modify their Baldur’s Gate 3 experience. And players on console have no options to speak, which is usually the case with most console games, both on Playstation and Xbox.
