FADE - UPDATE PART #4

Knight by Night gives an update on their project. The Kickstarter they started one month ago was cancelled on Nov 14th. They could get additional exposure thanks to a Youtube video and the EA brought some funds, but they're still not out of the woods.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, DEATH BRINGERS

After a series of tweaks to performance and some additional changes to FADE, I release this new update to get feedback on some new features as well as some insight onto some recent additions upon player feedback. First, I wanna get into what's new for FADE. So far I have had a bit of issue gathering exposure for the project. It would seem that our efforts are futile. A ray of light arrived to keep me motivated while I made these new additions to the game. Ben Ormstad, a popular UE4 tutorial youtuber I learned from recently gave the game a try on his channel. Happy to report he greatly enjoyed the game. If you have the time, definitely check out the video to see his take on what's currently available in the game.

SO WHAT'S NEXT?

To update everyone on the current plans for the project I'll give a little clarity on the recent events. Despite the game having quite wondrous sales as of late, I'm still trying to acquire more funds to finish up more features in the game. Mainly voice actors at this current juncture and a few new character models. I intend as usual to endlessly work to get this project even closer to full release. My next planned additions include the following and will be taken off as they are completed.

  • The Plains Demons, or the rock spider monsters as the community knows them are to be replaced by a new beast insect that Wildlings ride known as Capres. Most are known to be found in caves, but many have been domesticated to reside on the surface by the Wildlings. Prepare to face this new daunting foe.
  • Lockpicking - In order to increase the loot variety and difficulty behind acquiring certain items, a lockpicking system shall be implemented to prepare for the future stealth/crime system.
  • The First portion of the Castellum Sendabolg Questline - After looking through, and learning a little about METAHUMANS, I have managed to create a few vocal animations. With this tech I should be able to add more weight/emotion to the future expansion and give players access to what is complete of the new expansion. Additional portions shall be trickled in after the coming months as the work is completed.

FADE - THE SEEKERS UPDATE PART #3, Kickstarter

Knight by Night posted a new update, in which they announce the launch of the Kickstarter this week. The game update balances the weapons and brings some QoL improvements.

THE SEEKERS UPDATE PART #3 (KICKSTARTER ANNOUNCEMENT)

In this update multiple weapons have been rebalanced, as well as other quality of life improvements.

Hey, Death Bringers. In this new update players will see the following improvements to the game.

  • Hyper Armor has been added to Great Hammer attacks to improve viability.
  • Twin Blade and Twin dagger have had their air attack changed to be more effective.
  • Vampire Boss Changes to prepare for future changes once new voice actor is acquired.
  • New Dialogue Paths for certain NPCS
  • Further weapon trail improvements

And much more. Also I am happy to announce the game has officially reached the threshold state for us to head to Kickstarter. I believe that a project should only seek crowdfunding if they know they are at a turning point in their projects development or at least have enough to show for the games core loop. In this case, FADE has delivered on multiple features I planned to have added to the game and is now ready to approach Crowdfunding so we can get these three necessary things added to the game.

  • Fully Voice acted Dialogue Trees.
  • New Character Models for future enemies appearing in the coming update.
  • A Character Creation/Customization System similar to MetaHumans.

FADE - THE SEEKERS UPDATE PART #2

Today, Knight by Night gives a new update for FADE, The First Chapter, and a devlog.

THE SEEKERS UPDATE PART #2

In this update changes have been made to make combat more impactful with the addition of weapon trails and new systems.

Hey, Death Bringers. In this new update players will see the following improvements to the game.

  • New changes to side quests and other hidden in game events.
  • Updated stagger values and new weapon trails to add more of an effect to your attacks.
  • A new complex weather system that impacts enemy spawns and has a chance to spawn special enemies.
  • New Dialogue paths and options.

And much more. To go even further into detail on these features I uploaded a new Devlog to showcase the games new changes as well as give you insight on the games current plans.

FADE - THE SEEKERS UPDATE

Knight By Night gives an update on the development of FADE, THE FIRST CHAPTER.

Made changes to the Seekers Guild Hub and made various gameplay improvements

QUICK UPDATE 9/28

In this update players will get access to a new room within the Seekers Guild containing additional lore information as well as a teaser for the new content coming in the next big update, The Seekers Challenge Story Line. Alongside this are many changes to the following features down below.

UI Changes for better clarity during combat. After much information provided by the community, I've come to the conclusion that the UI had a lot of not necessary content. With these changes the UI is more straight forward and has less clutter.

  • Various lighting improvements to help with FPS.
  • Additional fixes to companion behavior to prevent any hitches in complex situations
  • Dynamic weather system.
  • item description improvements on: Mining Resources
  • Mastery menu added to main page of Pause menu for clarity on current stats.
  • Seekers Guild performance improvements and NPC placement changes.
  • New NPC dialogue options in certain areas.

New sparring room added to Seekers Guild in preparation for Seekers Guild Challenge Questline.

  • Fixed infinite death loop bug that takes place if the player is poisoned and dies during the saving process.
  • Adjusted different weapons cost values.
  • Subtitles Disabled in preparation of new custom subtitles being added to the game.
  • New Cutscenes for the tutorial area/boss area
  • New Dialogue feature that switches between different talking parties during a conversation.

FADE, THE FIRST CHAPTER - In Steam Early Access

FADE, THE FIRST CHAPTER is described as a Third person RPG focused on dungeon crawling, questing, and crafting. The game is currently in Steam Early Access. The latest update talks about combat system improvements.

In this update multiple changes are made to the combat system to improve different facets of how you handle companions, stun and take down foes, and also heal. Notable changes also include 5 new questlines and 32 new pieces of equipment. Alongside this there are also brand new areas and a multitude of changes to old areas to freshen the gameplay.

Also a brand new trailer has been added to better depict the current status of the game.

STORY

Awaken in a cursed land covered in a violent miasma that forces man to devolve to their most primal senses and take on new forms. Bear the burden of a dark spirit wishing for your only course of action to be the death of all those around you. Face countless foes on your way collect the lost shards of the Oathbreaker, an ancient blade said to open doors to new realities.
Taking on destructive creatures on your journey to gather each shard.

FEATURES

  • Stamina Management based combat system - The player has access to 10 different weapon types and can learn new skills for each weapon type, selecting two to use at will. Every skill the player uses consumes stamina and leads to tight situations when over used.
  • Decision Based Dialogue System - Situations play out for the player and lead to vastly different objectives based on how they choose dialogue options. Some NPCs can get to know the player and slowly build a connection to the player, eventually offering additional interactions.
  • NPC Based Quest System - The NPCs in the game are the driving force of the plot. Each quest will center around different characters and the actions you take will have different effects to them and the world around you.
  • Soul Seat System - As the player rises in level the dark spirit, Kaithe shall force them to face a person he once possessed in order to prove they are worthy to gain more of his strength. Until the challenge is passed they are locked away from leveling up any further.
  • Kaithe Release System - The player is embodied by a dark spirit. As enemies fall in battle they release an aura of their hope. Collecting these regenerates your health as well as builds up a meter to release the dark spirits powers.
  • Travel Based Ingredient/Crafting System - Potions require special ingredients to be crafted which can be found around the land in areas where they thrive. A night blossom is found most commonly at night in full bloom. Some ingredients can only be found in precarious locations.

    Within each chapter, the player is tasked with breaking through forces that have entrapped and estranged travelers from distant lands alongside horrific creatures. The hero awakes with no knowledge of his surroundings and only has their fragmented memories to comfort them. Despite being a new resident of this dangerous land, they may be the only one who is capable of freeing the people from their endless curse. All the while the hero must bear the burden of his curse, a never ending life as a puppet to a dark spirit.
